ok
i live in the countryside in cork 10miles from the city, and i want broadband really badly for counter strike and music downlaods. however eircom wont put out a line cause they dont think it would be worth their while, there is a digital eircom exchange centre or soemthing less than half a mile away like, is there any service s thats would let me get broadband in the country........

One option is to get satellite, IF you have a Sky TV dish. A friend in Clare needed BB but couldn't get it, like you. He got e3 Broadband, the 48:1 contention, 1024/ 128, for €40 a month. Downside is you still have the dial-up costs, as you send via telephone & receive by satellite.

You couldn't play with satellite, the pings would be too high.
