Home Brew kit - Beer Machine 2000

Hi all, since I found out I'm getting the Beer Machine 2000 home brew kit for Christmas I've been reading all the back-threads here on home brewing - I'm so excited about getting cracking with it! I think it was bought in Avoca shop on Nassau St.

Have any of the experienced home brewers heard of it? If so, what's it like? I note it doesn't commit what seems to be the cardinal sin of expecting you to dump in tonnes of sugar. Although am a bit dubious about the 'beer in 7-10 days' claim.

    Comments welcome!

They were selling these in dunnes for €140 with a kit!, the refills were €40 and you got 20pints!, it is cheaper to buy it in a off-licence.

You can drink it in 7 days but it will be better if left to mature. Leave it out in the shed in this cold weather and it will be far better after 1 month. You should be able to use regular kits with it rather than their overpriced specific kits. You will probably want to upgrade after using it a few times. it is only 20pints after all. They are meant to work ok though.

Im not sure on the prices but a uncle of hers works in Dunnes and he was saying the pints out of those things end up costing about 75 cent each.

    Nothing to see here.

It looks like a good startup into homebrewing.
And, even if you progress onto different kits/methods it's still a handy 2Gallon container to barrel your home brew, that will fit nicely into the fridge, with a handy serving tap. If you started brewing 5gallon batches, you could bottle half and barrel half, or buy another one.

I bought a Beer Machine 2000. Everything seems in order however when I do the pressure test bubbles do not appear in the PVC, should the bubbles appear at a fast rate or very very slow rate??

    Thanks for your help

I LIVE IN THE UK, AND I ALSO GOT A BEER MACHINE 2000 AS A GIFT, ON MY FIRST ATTEMPT THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE MACHINE EXPLODED, AFTER REPLACEMENT, I TRIED AGAIN AND FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER, THE BEER CAME OUT LIKE MUDDY WATER THIS ENDED UP ON MY GARDEN, AFTER FOUR MORE BEER MIXES RESULTING IN THE SAME WAY I GAVE UP, IVE TRIED ASKING THE BEER MACHINE SUPPLIERS FOR ADVICE WITH NO AVAIL.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT THE MACHINE MAKES A VERY GOOD BEER DISPENSER.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR RESULTS, REGARDS JACK NEWSHAM UK
