Half life 2..do I need Xbox live?

    I want to get half life 2 for the xbox but a mate of mine told me that you need have xbox live because you need to download a certain % of the game to activate it....is this corect because if so im screwed.

    You don't need xboxlive to run this game or any game, In fact I don't even think this game is live enabled
