Armed Robbery in Louth Last Night...
I'm not sure if this is Dundalk news but i think its big!!!

A Royal Mail van enroute to Dublin from Belfast was hijacked around midnight last night. Two armed men hijacked the van and tied up the driver in the back, the alarm was raised when the van failed to arrive at 1.30am.

The van was discovered in Dunleer this afternoon and gardaí have sealed off the scene for technical examination. It is believed that most of the van's contents were missing when the van was discovered but the driver was rescued from the back of the van unharmed.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO CALL THE DROGHEDA BASED INCIDENT ROOM ON 041-9874200

Where exactly did it happen? I saw on the news that it was "north of Monasterboice". Was it on the M1 or the old main road around Mullary? It certainly is a strange incident. No doubt there was something in that van that wasn't supposed to be there.

    UPDATE

The van has been taken to Dublin today for further examination. Most of the vans contents are now believed to still be in the Lorry with only 2 mail crates reported missing which include regular and registered mail but there is still no statement as what the parcels contained or what the gang were after. Gardai will continue door to door investigations in Dromin. The driver reported that he thought it was a regular Garda checkpoint as the men were in Garda uniforms. Gardai believe the gang are very well organised but are keeping a broad mind of who is responsible. The gang had at least one gun.

    NO MORE DETAILS RIGHT NOW
