Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    folks,

there have probably been dozens of these threads on the board before, so I apologise in advance if you're rolling your eyes up to heaven at this point...

anyway - I'm trying to start up an independent production company - mainly documentary type stuff - and I'm just trying to put together budgets and the like. So I'm wondering how much a cameraman/boom operator/editor costs per day?

also, if anyone has their own gear and is interested in getting involved, feel free to get in touch...

Editor with kit.... about £300 a day for 10 hours. Depends on offline/online. Also depends on size of project, how long it'll take, amount of footage. Also depends the system being used. That'd be cheap BTW

Well do you want em good or do you want em cheap? Theres a formula.

Theres a disturbing trend wandering into production companys that cheapest=best. You can pick up some gombeen kid with the Canon 3 chip mini dv and his mate with a cracked copy of Avid Xpress and undercut any post house, but hey, quality costs. Period. You want to make quality serious programs, don't be surprised what you get.

I'm kind of amazed at this attitude people will swallow any amount from their accountant or their plumber, or their electrician, but the idea that people working in film and tv don't provide a valuable service worthy of spending significant money on.

We don't get that. And while we don't we won't get quality tv. You want quality tv and high water pressure on our showers? Higher professionals. You wanna know why our tv sucks, cause our professionals earn twice the money doing the same job in the uk.

i was hoping to get decent people, who know what they're doing, and who aren't going to make the end product look like 1970s eastern bloc pornography.

those are the type of people I'm hoping to work with, and i'm curious to know how expensive it can be. I can write proposals till the cows come home, but rte and the major uk broadcasters all want reasonably detailed costings..so hence the query.
