I couldn't name any one Bowie song that I think is best, but I do have my favourites:

    Space Oddity
    Starman
    Ziggy Stardust
    Life on Mars
The man who sold the world
    Rock & Roll Suicide
    Sorrow

    and of course 'Under Pressure'

    Loving the Alien.

Although Life on Mars is really great too.

Will openly admit that I much prefer his older dress-wearing stuff.
Moonage Daydream, Rock and Roll Suicide, Bewley brothers.
Anyone ever hear him doing a version of my death by Jacques Brel, damned good.
Overall though I reckon Moonage Daydream!!!
    I'm an aligator!!!

Cracked Actor is a current favourite as is Time.

OK, I've been listening to Alladin Sane a lot recently.

Oh, and Scary Monsters can't be ****ed with.

EDIT/ Looking over some of the other replies
    anything from Low side 2

Ah, Warszawa or Art Life would be my faves. Good Ol' Brian Eno.

Gun to my head, and i'm only allowed pick one, then it'll have to be "heroes". The album version - if only 'cos it's longer

There's so many 'honourable mentions' though...somebody mentioned 5 years and 'lady stardust' and i'd have to agree...I also really like Drive In Saturday, Life on Mars and (if only for the cool rock'n'roll piano right after 'wam-bam-thankyou-mam) Suffragette City.

Am I the only person who really really really likes Absolute Beginners?

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but this type of thread doesn't really need a date.
The guy is a genius, and I'd love to see a few more songs added that aren't the usual "best of" stuff. We all know Ziggy Stardust and Space Oddity is great, but the guy has a hell of a lot of material, and a hell of a lot of genius stuff. Here's a few:

    My favourite bowie song:

    And Lady Grinning Soul:

    Moonage Daydream:

    Queen Bitch

This guy has so much good stuff I can't believe it! His best of albums have such a tiny percentage of his good stuff it's unreal!

    Here's another:

    Even this is genius:

Life on Mars would also be my no 1 , I remember it first time around and still sounds as fresh and brilliant now as it did back then .I remember being on a ferry sailing across the Irish sea and saying hello to Rick Wakeman who I remembered played that lovely piano solo on Life On Mars. :)

Golden Years is the other top Bowie song .....that's also fav and part of the soundtrack to my teen years .

    Teenage Wildlife.

It'd probably be easier to list your favourite songs from each album.

Heroes is a towering song, one of the best of the last 40 years.

for a less obvious one - Stay

    Ziggy Stardust for me.
I do also like Bowie's cover of The Pixies - Cactus

Ah, Warszawa or Art Life would be my faves. Good Ol' Brian Eno.

A New Career in a New Town. And anything else off either side of Low.

Queen Bitch, Candidate, Word on a Wing, Heart's Filthy lesson.

Have to disagree with a poster above, I loved the Black Tie White Noise Album.

There's nothing like sitting bored driving down the motorway when Moonage Daydream randomly comes on the radio. I wreck my voice trying to sing it :pac:
