the more important issue could be finding a tattoo artist capable of doing such a portrait. you should be looking at books for weeks, if not months and talking to tattoo artist. u might end up with a stick man on ur back with a microphone.

portrait tattoo's look tacky as hell imo, just look at that lesbian fred durst and his tattoo of kurt kobain on his man-tit. awful tbh

Seconded there's no one in know of that does good black and grey portraits in ireland and there's only about 5-6 in the world that do them very well.

Just want to add one more thing this is the first time i've seen people on this forum advise against a tattoo normally the response are "go bigger" "not big enough" , " get it done on your face" etc read into that what you will

Wouldn't be my cup of tea musically ;) and you've gotta be wary of how your musical taste and the artist's future personal AND more importantly professional lives change. But, that aside, I'm not against the idea of getting a protriat. I think most people here feel that you should think a bit more about it and spend the time making sure you find the best artist. Good luck with it.

I would definitely disagree with this. They say love lasts forever….but tattoos last six months longer. That Billie Joe tattoo might be important to her now…but how about in one month? One year? One decade? Musical tastes change so much durings one's lifetime and chances are ten years down the line some other band will have become the focus of her devotion. Also tattoo's of people can often be tarnished by the personal actions of these people (im sure there are people regretting their Gary Glitter tattoo's now). Thats what makes this type of tattoo a lot more questionable.

I dont mean to be disrespectful to the girl but she does come off as being slightly immature, and now that she's got an image she likes she should really keep it for a while before commiting to this tattoo idea. I can understand the fact that a bands music can really effect someone, and maybe help them through bad times, and I can also understand how some people want to mark these points through such acts as a tattoo, but theres a lot less questionable Green Day artwork out there that she could still have a personal attatchment too which would be a safer commitment.

She may not listen to Billie Joe's music in years to come but I don't think you understand a personal choice. What if Billie Joe influenced her to start playing music or she got by hard times on his music for years? She may not listen to the music but it could be some sort of tribute to him or a reminder of something special. To me tattoo's are a diary of life and not something stylish that other people can adore.

BTW I absolutely hate Billie Joe but tattoo's are very personal and I would never give anyone abuse over something like this.

I have no picture's of my tattoo and the only way I can get one is with my phone which wouldn't show great detail.

I don't know why you need a picture. Do you even have a tattoo? You don't seem to have a clue what you're talking about. Where the hell did 5-6 artists come from? pulling more stuff out of your hole.

You dont know **** about me child but nice one that you were able to assess me in a one line post.
I already have two arms tattooed and am looking at getting a lot more, it has nothing to do with style, it has to do with the fact that portraits are immensely difficult to do and unlike yourself it would seem I do have an idea of the standard of artists in this country and there is only one who is good at it really.

Go get your fashion tattoos, what do I give a ****?

If only i wouldn't get banned for personal abuse, if only. As for tattoo yes i have tattoos in the process of getting my full back piece done and got one half sleeve. How old are you 17-18? you seem to be stuck in the old rebelious stage but don't worry you'll grow out of it. The 5-6 artists are Artists i recomend for black and grey portrait work who are consider top of the field in that sort of work, but seeing as you know so much already i don't need to tell you that do i?

The "young'un" seems to know a lot there emmet, best we stay quiet, it appears us people WITH tattoos dont know much.

<edit> go on oh dying one, show us your tat, let's see if your kurt cobain looks like Kurt Russell, or your green day like a bad hair day, we're interested and if nothing else maybe we can learn of a new portrait artist who can make a tattoo look like someone, educate us oh wise one.

It was enjoyable seeing you reduced to that useless text that is above me. Two arms done? wow thats impressive, that must have gotten you your cert in knowing it all.

Who is this artist I must reference?

PS - Expect replies like that if you're going to be narrowminded towards other peoples choices.

This is the usual answer from a patethic poster. One poster (Blub) says something and then you just follow with the usual stab at age. I don't see anything imature about my postings, infact I think it's more mature and respectful than both of you. I'm hitting on 21 if you must know and if you strongly could recommend 5-6 artists for this type of work you would do so in an instance so stop wasting our time? good lad.

You didn't get all of your angst out on the first post? It's good to vent anger.
