Spanish telecom operator Telefonica has announced that its ADSL TV service Imagenio has met its target of over 200,000 subscribers in its first year of operations. Imagenio was launched just under a year ago in Madrid and Barcelona, and has been extended to the entire country in less than six months. The interactive TV service is currently available to four million households, in around 140, mainly bigger, cities. Since May, Telefonica has been deploying ADSL2+ technology to extend the coverage of the service to the biggest possible number of households. Imagenio offers 48 TV and 15 audio channels, a package of interactive services, electronic commerce as well as video on demand. It offers more than 1,000 hours of series, documentaries, concerts, video clips and news and carries live coverage of Spanish championship and cup football.
