Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

have you tried "halt" in a shell window?

yes, surely there must be a shutdown, restart etc. somewhere in the gui?

I have tried both gnone and kde.

It's on the login screen, i.e. you need to logout and restart/halt from there. It's like this because generally speaking you don't need to reboot a linux machine very often, or halt it for that matter.

You need to be root to do it from the command line.

    halt
    shutdown -h now

    reboot
    shutdown -r now

on the login screen, there's a 'menu' option, click on it ->shutdown
in kde, right click on the taskbar -> add applet -> lock/logout applet

are you saying that when you click on the logout button it doesn't give you the option to turn off the computer ?

in all previous distros of linux i hav used it gives me the option of shuting down, restarting etc when i click log out but all it has is the log out option nothing else.

Also shutdown is no where to be found on the login screen. The only options is what kind of session I wanna log into
