44mins you say, no ads? :)

I was of the belief that the 2nd series on sky1 was going to catch up on the US but apparently not. Sky's site has Jan 10th as its air date for series 2. Hmm...

Its just not the same without the "I'd rather watch Andromeda!" option :(

I demand to be given the option to watch Andromeda

This poll makes me sad. Where is the Andromeda option on which I can shower my hate? :[

'Twas superb gentlemen. One thing I absolutely love about this show is they actually think everything through, there's no silly little glossing over of rough plot lines. Every action has a believable cause (Right down to how the Ressurection ship is identified
A cylon expecting to make a clean getaway in death and actually having to deal with being tortured to the point of wanting to die for 'real', brilliance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 999 ✭✭✭cregser

Ooh, juicy ending. I'd forgotten why I missed the show (it's been so long), but now I remember. But there are things I could complain about if I was being fussy -
    - The whole "find friendlies in the wilderness that have done bad things to survive" has been done time and time before.
    - If you read the synopsis of the show you'd guess that a cylon attack (or something related) would happen when the fighters where doing their little dance routine at the start. Kinda killed the suspense.
    - I really don't think they're gonna kill Cmd. Adama. Even though Admiral Kane has the advantage of seing Adama request to talk with Starbuck (but she is sending in a whole team). Kinda kills the suspense too.
    - But Chief Tirrel has a replacement in that civilian guy, and there's something very old school BSG about him. So there's a little suspense there, but if Adama lives then there's no execution...

But as Creed said, it's the small details in the show, and how they all knit together that make it good. Not just the main plot.

My own theory for next week
If there is an execution then it will be Kaine's 2nd in command who will kill her, the guy's obviously in bits over what he's done under her command since the outbreak of the war, either way he won't even try to carry out his mission. An alternative is they will arrange some way to have the captive Cylon do it to avoid a civil war

Fantastic episode. This is easily the best thing on TV of any genre at the moment. Better than Lost imho. Anyway I'll use spoilers even though I see no point in them. The thread title should be enough warning.
First off how can Kaine's second in command kill Kaine when she is sending him to BSG?
I think it's him that will stop the assasination attempt on Adama when it comes to the crunch and Kaine may end up on trial for war crimes or some such.
Finally I still wonder why Madam Pres. didn't just promote Adama to Admiral and name him commander of the fleet over Kaine. Surely the pres can do this?

And for the rest of it, f***'in hell!!, can't wait for next week.

I know how it finishes. :)

Good suspence in the episode and good acting. Some of the lighting and camera angles in scenes really took away from it, but I guess it boils down to the copy being a divx rip.

Next week promises to be fun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Peace

They're back on on form... man i missed this show.

Who thinks it will all be resolved next week? Somehow i think there's too much to get done next week.... mission prep/launch/attack/return/assasinations...

Also, if they do manage to remove Kane they'll be left with two Battlestars... maybe the Pegasus won't survive the assault on the Cylon fleet. Man i can't wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,066 ✭✭✭BKtje

i hope they dont wuss out and kill Kaine in the assault. Very good show, so very enjoyable :D

damn cousins. woke up this morning and the video had arrived. opened it up, stuck it on.....and it wasnt BSG ep 11 at all. It was a porn video. normally i wouldnt mind but in this case i wasnt amused at all. especially since i had seen it already. stoopid cousins.

    /edit
actually got the right one as well, forgot i had asked 2 different cousins for it but its not great quality. anyone's cousins send them the HD version?

It was well done and all, but was a bit of a briding episode for next week. Not too much happened this week but, what did, was well executed ('cept for
the Chief and Helio who weren't executed at all...
    ).

Production wise, I'm glad to see this show back - nice adult feel still going on. You can really feel they take the show seriously and treat it as such.

As to what's next, I'm very much on the bandwagon that
Kane's second-in-command will kill her over his guilt. It's an option that I think is a bit of a cop-out as it'll remove Starbuck's potential guilt but I fear they'll go for it.

As to the Resurrection ship - I like it. It makes sense with what they know, even if we're still not 100% sure of their plan for the Galactica.

Rating this one at the 2nd best rating because I'm hoping for some real meat next week.

I think that as they are mirroring the assasination plot, both starbuck and the 2cnd in command will refuse their orders. Someone will point out trail of destruction / massacre that Pegasus has left behind. Pegasus' commander will refuse to give up without a fight. Cylon will kill her somehow. That's my guess anyway!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 556 ✭✭✭JimmySmith

My vote is that Starbuck gets caught before she can do the deed, but then some miscellaneous person with a gun shoots Caine in the head for killing their family/friends.

they need to kill a cast member to keep it gritty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,920 ✭✭✭AnCapaillMor

Kanes 2nd in command doing it is too obvious. Does anyone else think the cylon gave up the reason for the ship too easily, a cylon killing kane makes sense as resurection ship looks likes bait for a trap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,222 ✭✭✭Scruff

    brilliant stuff.
While there is all this intrigue over who is going to kill Kane I cant help thinking that the job might be done by the cylons. The show is called BSG not BSG&P. I've a feeling the Peagsus might be destroyed in the attack. Got a replacement for the Chief already on Galactica and Helo is a bit superflus to the story line now. The sentencing to death was a good way of getting us used to the possibility of their departure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Maybe the new chief is a Cylon? or would that be a cop-out?
Imo, Kara won't pull the trigger. Apollo will shoot (and not necessarily kill) Admiral Cain. He's already pulled his gun on Tigh in the previous season, he'll have no qualms about doing something similar again.

If that happened Cain would declare martial law and arrest (and possibly kill) the president. She would hardly give up that easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

    Or maybe
the President is not the Supreme Commander of the Colonial Forces, like it is with the US forces/president.

Chief and Helo : could well be executed. As already said, there is a replacement for the chief and if Helo gets the chop (sorry!) it would open up the way for Baltar to be the semi-toaster's human father as imaginary 6 predicted on Kobol.

Cain: 2ic could stop the assassaination attempt on adama and she gets done for treason and her past crimes against the civvies. 2ic then gets command of the pegasus. Didnt a second battlestar join up in the original series?

Having the pegasus destroyed in the cylon attack would be too much of a cop out imho.

also, why cant the blackbird just fly in and drop a few nukes around the res. ship (inert nukes so they wont show up on sensors etc) then they get armed by remote and detonated simultaenously.

that's what I'd do. dammit! put me in charge! I want a viper..no even better, a battlestar. making whooshing noises while sitting in a punto just isnt the same (especially seeing as said punto is incapable of motion at the minute) :(

They said that it would be detected and fired upon before it got into range, presumably even if it's not armed they can detect them...

I don't think you can be sure that the Pegasus will be destroyed. (I'm leaving some spoiler tags out here as I don't think speculation as to the fate of the ship counts as a spoiler and people who haven't seen the episodes yet should be able to read relevant parts of the thread). The battlestar galactica is just one ship in the Colonial Fleet. There's a possibility Pegasus will be stripped of all but a skeleton crew(meaning it doesn't steal the limelight from Galactica) and will just tag along out of sight except in episodes where it makes sense to include it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 999 ✭✭✭cregser

If the Pegasus's systems are networked then their fighters will under the control of cylons, won't they? And what happened to Galactica's little virus?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Well, Pegasus was in dry-dock so I'm sure as soon as the news of the Attack+cylon virus made its way to the shipyards, they un-networked their systems and made them stand-alone.

nah i think thats way off myself. If it doesnt get destroyed it'll probably head back and try and help the survivors on the 12 Colonies, as Cain said to starbuck, but probably minus Cain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,892 ✭✭✭madrab

id say they wont be able to destroy one of the hive ships/resurection ship so the pegasus will ram it & destroy itself in the process

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Peace

There was a good point made about the Chief and Helo not making it back. I wouldn't be suprised if they are lined up against a wall and shot.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,763 ✭✭✭Fenster

What actually, really happens (DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT IT SPOILED):
The attack goes ahead okay. At the end of it neither Cain nor Adama give the execution order. However, Baltar frees Gina and she shoots Cain in the head before getting shot herself.

At the end of the episode both Battlestars are still in the fleet. Helo and the Chief are both freed on Adama's order after he is promoted by El Presidente to Admiral and the Pesasus XO (his name eludes me, sorry) is promoted to Commander of the Pegasus. Many of the changes made by Cain stand, such as Starbuck serving as CAG on the Pegasus.

    must. not. read. Fenster's spoilers.
    nrrrrghh......must resist!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,892 ✭✭✭madrab

im not going to read that & ill kill anyone that spoils it but how do you know fenster?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Peace

On second thoughts... how is baltar going to get off the Pegasus if they start ramming Cylon ships....

What would be intersting is if the Pegasus is taken under adam's control and sent back to Caprica (as said previously on this thread)... it would allow for two story lines to run along side each other, like the good old days of Caprica plot and Galactica plot.

Also Fenster, that was just plain evil... I'm resisting as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Bad Fenster, very bad Fenster :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,713 ✭✭✭✭jor el

I read Fenster's spoiler and I think he's just plain wrong. I mean, giant spiders eating Admiral Caine, pfft.

Seriously though, I did read it and I'm not convinced it's the truth. I'll have to wait until the episode is aired to see. I think it would be a bit of a cop out though if this is true and I'll be dissappointed with the episode :(

Did anyone see the Inside BSG show that also aired on SciFi on Friday night? There wasn't really much in it except that they all believe the 2nd half of the season will blow the pants off the 1st. Also, mega spoiler so don't read if you didn't see this (relates to No. Six)
Trisha Helfer said that Six gets to kill a Cylon. I wonder if it'll be Sharon, and she kills her for the baby? Or maybe Caine is a Cylon and the one locked up in the brigg get's out and kills her.

Anyway, I voted amazing for that episode as it was bloody brilliant, but that wasn't an option

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,763 ✭✭✭Fenster

I can link you to the original thread on Gateworld if you wish, but basically the two episodes were sent out to various stations in the US as part of a promo pack. A pretty detailed spoiler was posted covering both episodes.

And I'm not too happy about giant spiders eating Cain, myself ,but hey, its sci-fi, right?
