Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not sure if he counts as alt/indie but this is the closest place on here to his music.
Anyway his new album is out in March and the man will be back to tour this spring around the country.
Give a listen to the free song from the new album entitled "The Animal Years" over on Josh's site.
You can also get some free live tracks on Dougrice.net[/ur]
All downloads are approved by Josh.
For those who don't know him he sounds like

There's real grace and poetic detail in Ritter's songwriting, and the
music accents his gift for melody and emotion. But it’s his guileless joy
and lack of artifice that set him apart.

    Yeah!
50,000 members and two Josh fans!
ITs not that long since "Hello Starling"..is it
Although I was in school when it was released so its about two years at this stage

Make that three. Well, I'm not a huge fan, but I think he's pretty good. Will defo get the new album. Is it really two years since the last?
Wonder will he be doing any shows. Seen him in the olympia when Erin McKeown supported. Remembered her set better than his tbh but still enjoyed it.

Her set was pretty good, I seen them play in Donegal and his set was fantastic!
He has confirmed a couple of gigs in march the week the album comes out so I'm sure he'll be playing Dublin sometime around then.
For thoes that don't know, check out joshritter.com for new/reviews and some downloads(get Heavan is a Thin Blue Flame! Its really really good!)
And you can also get a few live songs on the fansite at dougrice.net/joshritter

I've been listening to the new album for the past couple of days now and I have to say its fantastic, probably his best to date. Lyrically its a huge step up for him.
Theres some really good stand out tracks. Namely Girl in the War, Thin Blue Flame and Here at the Right Time.

That's a cool smiley thing you got there. Anyhoo, I picked up my Christchurch tickets last Thursday. Sounds like they could be sold out soon if not already.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 38 roflotz

When I was in on friday at about 4 there was 30 tickets left.
    We're in W.
    Sounds like a class night.
Would have gotten the tickets sooner if I could have found the shop!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,057 ✭✭✭JJ

I didn't think Road Recs was that well hidden. Seems a few Josh fans had a hard time finding the shop. Anyhoo, it's soitainly the best independent record shop in Dublin.

    Vicar St. in Dublin
    May 12 and May 13
    A Friday and Saturday night

Not sure of the ticket price yet though, and they go on sale tomorrow(Thursday the 26th)

are the Vicar st gigs seated or standing? it doesn't seem obvious from ticketmaster or from Josh's own site..........?

EDIT: also if anyone has one spare Christchurch ticket for a true Josh fan who couldn't make it into RoadRecs until Saturday when they were all gone......................:( will be posting in the "tickets wanted"section shortly anyway
