    Alright folks,
The parents are thinking of buying a 2004 1.6l Suzuki Vitara,
Gonna head down with them tommorrow to have a look at it,
Any advice on what to look out for on a Vitara?

Get a diesel..... The petrol is underpowered and more expensive to run.... If U do go for it, check it for joint wear and make sure its been serviced

the diesel comes in 2.0 turbo

yeah but it's a Peugeot Diesel!

If they're looking at a 3 door there won't be Diesels available. It'd want to be very cheap, as there's a new Vitara out now, which is far more modern.

If they can afford it they should consider a 1.8 Rav4. sure there's a new model out in the summer, but it will be 2.0 and 2.2 only, so 1.8's will be in even more demand than they are now. they're almost as economical as the 2.0 Diesel, and their resale value is about the highest of any jeepy car I can think of

once it has a full service history and the joints seem to be solid on the road, then it should be fine.... Check underneath for any obvious damage also

just make sure it hasn't been taken beyond it's limits, a towbar could have been hauling something serious. check that the suspension is level, and that any other accessories fitted are done so properly, they are fairly robust just give it a good drive checking for anything peculiar from the transmission. It might be a good idea to drive at least two to be able to compare
