Has to be Kasabian - Kasabian, even though it was released in 2004, I only got it last February and therefore counts as my favorite album of 2005.

Apologies for being pedantic, but isn't the album just called "Illinois" (as in the american state, after his project to record an album for every US state). I know it says "Come on feel the Illinoise" on the cover. I notice that Tom Dunne also calls it this. I notice some retailers referring to it as 'Illinoise' but most call it 'Illinois'. Different releases?

Of course this is vitally important to enjoying the music :D

Was Funeral this year? Great, great album.

Not a particularly great year for music though. This year we've got new stuff from Radiohead, Flaming Lips and maybe even the Pixies to look forward to!

    What a tough quesiton....

My fav albums of the year in no particular order were:

Sufjan Stevens - not giving a title due to aforementioned controversy!!
    Bell X1 - Flock
    Ray Lamontagne - Trouble
    Arcade Fire - Funeral
and currently liking Jose Gonzalez - Veneer alot
and surprisingly Bruce Springsteen - Devils and Dust
Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak (WAS actually 2005 http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/43238/albums/album/6962455/rid/6982485/)

*think* that's about it although Im sure Im forgetting something I really loved. :v:

    Doves - Some Cities

I also enjoyed The Coral and Kaiser Cheifs.

Bloc Party and Aracde Fire kind of passed me by, I heard songs, saw videos etc, but will have to buy them soon, I think.

It was released in about November 2004 over here (Ireland, Britain and probably the rest of Europe). I remember going to the shop to get it the day it came out. It was for some reason not released until early 2005 in the states.

Arcade Fire was also 2004, the album was out for a good while before they got popular.

Arcade Fire was also 2004, the album was out for a good while before they got popular.
Released in the states in September '04 but didn't make it to release here until February 2005.

As for the Sufjan Stevens album, I haven't a clue what to call it! It's still bloody good though :)
