Why, what do you think will be changing?

Punishments will be harsher, associate membership (and probably alumni membership) will be abolished, associate members (and probably alumni) will be kicked off the boards, none of this "committee" crap, the President will rule like a dictator to protect the society and the college's good name, an army of thought police will pop a cap in your ass for spamming, p0rn, tubg1rl, japgross, and other such offences.

Hmm... I think harsher modding, more bannings, maybe more power to the President and more restrictive membership. But I cant see it being good for the society

I disagree. Back in the day when Smiler/Draco had all the power, it was good. There was no elections, no freedom of speech, no CSSE3 heads posting porn/tubgril/lemonparty pics just to piss off "the nerds on mikado". A return to a dictatorship will, IMO, make things a lot better

I hope they don't get rid of people who aren't current students of NUIM.
It would be nice if they banned people after like 2 or 3 warnings. I mean I've been on for years and have no warnings, so it's not like that would be harsh.

Oh, if they restrict membership then what of Leaving Cert students lookin for info on NUIM?

  • Registered Users Posts: 286 ✭✭Fridge

I don't think that will bother the college too much.

They said it was a bad thing in Germany in 1933, but they were wrong...

a benevolent dictatorship has proven to be the best way to run medium to large sized internet bulletin boards.

I agree. Mikado ran best when Smiler/Draco were the all powerful, iron fisted mods that took no kak from nobody! ;)

Those were the days.... flame wars were more fun then because as soon as they started going personal the mods would step in and warn people for being stupid. :D

Hail! The mother of all put downs!

You weren't around so what the hell would you know?

It wasn't just an online community then, everyone knew and respected each other and if flame wars broke out they weren't allowed to get personal because the mods banned anyone who started crap.

It was a bunch of people who just wanted to have fun on the boards and be friends in real life and do things as part of a community. I remember the epic Drinkies with Moggie and Smiler and all the old gang having a right time. Of course I came at the tail end so I missed the best moments but it was good then.

    I don't but it's a likely bet.

And if they do cringe, that's their business.
