I'm looking to do a fairly major extension to my house in Douglas & just wondered if anyone out there could recommend a good architect in the Cork area ??

    Cheers

What sort of extension? And what style are you looking for?

It's a 1950's semi, that I want to extend two stories to the side with single storey wrap around on the back and an attic conversion.....

Fairly common in my road, so planning should'nt be an issue

Hmmm, still not sure what style you want to achieve, but check out:

    CMG Architects
    23 South Bank, Crosse's Green,
    Cork.

    Tel: 021 4319655
    Fax: 021 4319657
    E-mail: cork@cmgarchitects.ie

They do some nice extension work.

Another crowd worth looking at are:

    Magee Creedon,

There's a firm in Douglas on the Carrigaline Road called Reidy, O'Riordan, Staelhi. They're based in the old school house. I'm based in Limerick, but they're working on a new development where I work.

Thanks - spoke to CMG & they seem pretty efficient & straightforward to deal with.

let me know how you get on with them.

Had a disastrous experience with a firm of architects last year.

We we are now talking to a guy Luke Hickson in PLM who has been brilliant so far (I am new to Boards, are we allowed mention names???!)

Honestly, I have spoken to so many architects over the past few years - there is no typical trait or characteristic in the profession and fees differ wildly.

Find someone you get on with and keep them for life!
