Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How's this going to go down at Lansdowne do you think? Bit of a history of Rangers related individuals getting abuse at Irish games (and what about the night some geezer got booed but wasn't actually the guy who'd play for Rangers)....anyway is Ireland's new "head coach" going to feel the wrath of the boo boys?

Possibly. But only from bigoted idiots. It won't be an issue long term, I would guess.

I think they'll be too busy with whats on the pitch, tbh. Its not like they can boo him without a ball at his feet like if he was playing, or his name to be announced over the telecom yoke. They wont really get a chance, at a match, anyway. Like they did for him:

Nothing that happens in Scottish football should be of any concern to anybody claiming to support the IRISH national team.

What possible difference does one mans previous links to a team playing in the Scottish Premier League make?

Anyone who boos players because they play for Rangers is an idiot, anyone who hasa problem because of a previous link to Rangers is a bigger one.

Nah Ireland 'supporters' these days usually just save their boo's for the manager.

Read here from another thread when the Denmark game was mentioned. As you can see it was very few people that where booing the player and in the end it turned into everyone taking the piss out of those fans. The papers blew it out of proportion.

I wouldn't think this will be a problem at all. Sure why would a normal Irish fan care who the coach of the team played for? it doesn't matter as long as they get the passion back into the Rep team. The last few performances had no passion and the team where just not playing like a Rep team.

An Ireland coach with Rangers links
    What a development.
I hope the folks at www.ok2boo.com instruct folks that it is OK to Boo McDonald
Anything else would be double standards.

We believe that it is the basic
right of any Ireland or Celtic supporter to boo a Rangers player on
the basis that he plays for Celtic’s nearest
    and deadliest rivals.

how about actually watching the game?

Why the hell are the media mentioning this at all? Aidan Fitzmaurice mentioned "ex-Rangers player" in his first sentence in one of his articles. He played 3 bloody games for them on loan. Next they'll be saying Trevor Steven should resign from RTE or Gazza should watch his back the next time he's over here for a do.

Well if they do boo him they should be kicked out and not allowed into the Lansdowne again.

McDonald is highly rated at Villa, he was promoted to Assistant Manager during Brian Little's time.

One thing I think McDonald will bring to the setup is his experience with working with young players, he is in charge of the reserve team at Villa which has a lot of young players involved, he would have been involved in developing Steven Davis who is doing very well.

Lads, don't feed on the tabloid garbage. Nobody is going to boo him for having a 3 game loan spell at Rangers. If the tabloids want to get idiots on his back let them do so.
