Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Interesting that the discussion has moved on from Rooney Kicking down the referees door and the serious implicatiosn that could have had on his career to criminal damage to Uniteds Dressing room door.

I doubt very much Rooney is the first player in history to kick a dressing room door in frustration. As I said early on in this post a little balance regarding Rooney/United would not go amiss.

well new rules this season means first player who talks back to the ref gets yellow second player gets red no matter which side they are on. i play week in week out, well except the last ten weks coz i'm injured, but i generally dont bother, i'll get pissed off about it but swearing and shouting at the ref get you absolutely no where except in the book. and being a right back i generally dont get through on goal much!!

just to differentiate there is a huge difference between calling REF!!! when you think you are being fouled or asking the ref why you have been penalised against and running up to him shouting your head off or hurling abuse at him.

Those rules are new to me. Are they recognised by FIFA and the premiership? I presume this relates to some amateur football league where pisspoor refs often make up their own rules. The refereeing at amateur level is so sub standard that they have to make up rules to protect them otherwise they would be routinely attacked by scumbags.

Stop being a troll. The tackle was below the knee and everyone (apart from you ) knows it. It was a relatively poor tackle, but caused no damage. Rooney has a bad attitude, now and in the past and probably needs to be punished harshly, with a belt.
A troll? Don't make me laugh. It was knee high and the video shows it, are your eyes decieving you or are you just not admitting it? "Relatively poor tackle"?! Bit of an understatement there. It may not have caused any damage, but it could have done. And it was the second time in the game that it had happened, Rooney was dead right to go after the ref for protection. Any player would.

although there is further fallout of this game. RVN and Ronaldo squaring up.

Rumour or not, one things that's for sure is that someone needs to take Rooney aside and sort out his attitude towards referees. His constant backchat isn't doing him any favours, just picking him up yellow cards.

He's a tremendous footballer but he needs to learn to have respect for officials.

sorry but did u see the city game the ref kept winding him all through the match any time rooney was fouled he got nothing and city got everything he was right to complain the ref was a shambles sending off ronaldo as well 4 a tackle tat didint even make contact with cole. which cole agreed with i might add. any team or players that were cheated liked that IMO has a right to make an official complaint about the ref he was also a stand in ref. the ref that was suppose to ref the match became ill b4 the match and that idiot was but in place to ref one of our most important match's of the season shouldnt have happened.in fairness he can sometimes give to much back chat but it shows how much he cares about his team and his football and IMO all players should be allowed make there case to the ref if there is a case to b made which was the case in saturdays derby on a number of occisions. if anyone should have got a RED CARD IT WAS THE REF!

Quel Surprise! The shocking abuse the Ref suffered in the tunnel at halftime didn't merit a mention in his match report. No mention of doors being kicked down either. Is there some red faced lenghty ban merchants about today?:o

Don' t worry lads Sunday is not too far away now and there will surely be some other non issue to get worked up over. ;)

i myself will be in the Bishops or the Railway club.

Can't wait to get over on Sat, and when we get back on Monday we will be reporting on an excellent victory by Utd over the scousers

its kinda nice to see that this derby actually matters now, cause for the last long time its been utterly irrelevent and just another match, now theres not only the rivalry, but serious stuff riding on it

lol, enough to make you put the prawn crackers down?

    <edit>

On another note, why exactly is the match more relevant this year? It's not as if either team has been banging out the league trophys in the last few years...

Well its was usually Utd way out in front and Liverpool playing catch up in League so didnt really affect either position but this year both are fighting it out to come in second because there is no chance to win the league. The bookies are doing all there business now on who will come second and not who will win the league. Should be a good game but Im away so wont get to see unless some random Bulgaria station has it on

It's the first time that i've been concerned about Liverpool beating us in the league in quite some time, not that my concern is huge, but its still a concern, which is nice.

Agree. Rare you get liverpool and united this close in january.

Still the match earlier in the season matter aswell(possibly even more so) and that turned out to be brutal.

I was at that game earlier in the season, and was ok, no lived up to it billing but there was some decent footy played and the pool could have gotten something from it in the end.

Liverpool vs. Man Utd a derby? Aren't Liverpool and Manchester two entirely different cities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,399 ✭✭✭✭Thanx 4 The Fish

They are less than an hour away from each other and has always been considered a bit more than the average game. In my times there always feels like a derby game.

Last time I was at a United vs. Liverpool game, United won 4-0. So you have been warned! ;)
