Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm planning a home extension and want to place a plasma on a wall , would it be ok to place it over one of those long low rads . There will be perhaps 3 foot between them .

Depends on who you believe mate. A little shelf sound like a good idea! Are you going to get the cabling in when it's built?

I think it would be a bad idea to hang it over a heat source.

i have to agree, unless you put a shelf about a half foot over the rad to dry and deflect heat slightly forward, but that said heat will still rise, but atleast not so much directly at the panel.
But i still think its a bad idea, i wouldnt do it.

Try and get your plumber to reroute the pipework to a different place.

When the hot air rises although it may not damage the screen but the air will waver slightly and you will be driven mad by the slight distortion. Even a shelf will only project the hot air forward a couple of inches. There may still be a visible shimmer.

    Just an idea but:

Would you scrap the plans for a radiator and go for underfloor heating instead - so you're wall is free for your lovely plasma?

I do find it amazing though, the amount of people advise against putting a plasma over a heat source (which I agree - its not a good idea) - then there are hundreds of people that put them over the fireplace!!!

    Mad
