Hard water problems

Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. I live in an area with hard water problems. Im cuurently looking into getting a treatment system put in (the like of the eco water system) But at 3K I'm wondering if its worth it. Just wondering if any one has the same issue and how they got round it.
