New surround sound kit

Hi all,

I just bought myself a Sony 50" RP LCD and now I am looking to add a dvd/surround system to it.

Any ideas because I havent started shopping around yet. Fairly decent sized room and it would nice to have big sound to go with the big screen

As Im a fan of the tall boy speakers and as you have bought the Sony LCD, I would recommend this:

Although as you have paid a fortune on the LCD, it would be a shame not to get the top end of the home cinema systems offered by Denon etc

What is your budget? And what are your aims for the system? Are you planning on just watching some DVD's in which case you can get one of the All in one DVD/Speaker sets.

If you were planning on starting a HiFi seperates stack then you could go for an amp and speakers like the ones here or the smaller bookshelf style.
As far as small all in one sort of speaker set I have heard these Monitor Audio are pretty good.

The floorstanders definitely fill the room with sound anyway and depending on what speakers you get, you might not actually need to get a sub.

It is easy enough to mix and match a good 5 speaker set for €400-€500.
I would budget at least the same on an amp too.

The budget would be about 500 yoyos for sound.

Will be mostly watching DVDs and general tv viewing.
