    hi guys

Does anyone know how to replace the led rear brake light on a mk iv golf?

It hasn't worked in a while and I need to get it sorted before NCT.

Is it a simple bulb change or do I have to replace the whole thing. I had a quick look and can't find how you even remove it.

    Any advice greatly appreciated

    Its very easy to do.

There should be a cover in the booth of the car, take it off. This should give you access to the rear of the light. You should then be able to unscrew the tail lamp from its housing.

Once removed there should be clips holding the panel which contains the bulbs at the back of the tail lamp, unclip that and replace the required bulb.

Put back the opposite way to you taking out if you know what i mean.

I think he's talking about the other brake light, as in the one on top of the rear window kluivert.

I haven't encoiuntered a problem with mine iggy, haven't even looked at how to access it. Is it even a requirement to have this 'third' brake light working for the NCT?

Yea faigs it is the 'third' brake light that is not working and afaik it needs to work for NCT.
Does anyone know the official name for this rear 'third' LED brake light?
    thanks

    Its the Third Brake Light.

You should be able to take it apart somehow.
