God, in 3dmark05 before all the cheaters (im mean the SLi rigs) i had the second highest score on that thread, looks like im going to have to beg borrow steal some money from somewhere and get me an X1900XT-X

yeh but thats going from intel to amd. I doubt wiz will be going from amd-intel. It will probably be something like an fx-60 if he got a new cpu.

This is very off topic here so sorry, but intels new core "Presler" seems to be preforming very well and because its 65nm it should make for better overcolcking due to less heat. from what ive read they are preforming very well. they got 4mb of l2 catch as well and are preforming (with an overclock) an a par and even out preforming x2 4800 http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/presler_11.html so may be worth a look for overclockers.

If he goes to an Fx-60 his score will increase a fair bit as some of this is obviously suited to dual core cpus.

x2's seem to have a huge impact on score, and 2 gigs of ram boosts it quite a bit aswell

I got 5480 on an Athlon 3800 dual core with 1 gig of ram and a Sapphire Radeon X1900XT - is this a good score or should i be expecting something more (or less)?

You seem about right you almost bet my score with the same processor and same amount of ram. I have a slightly higher spec card (XTX model) and a good performing motherboard. So your machine is performing at the level it should in my opinon. At least in 3D mark 2006.
