    Copied from another message board:
Altars of Madness Dual Disc Release.
Earache Records are to release a Dual Disc format version of the landmark Death Metal album "Altars of Madness" by Morbid Angel on March 13 2006. Considered by many to be a defining moment in the genre, Alters of Madness was first released in 1989 and is still held in reverence by the majority of Death Metal fans.

The DVD side of the Dual Disc features the long sought after November 1989 Nottingham Rock City show filmed on the bands first ever European outing, the legendary Grindcrusher Tour (alongside Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower and Carcass), and is the first Morbid Angel material to see an official DVD release.

A free replica ticket of this show is available with the first 5,000 copies pressed.

Limited edition Dual Disc DVD side:
'Live Madness '89' Recorded live at Nottingham Rock City 14th November 1989
    01. Immortal Rites
    02. Suffocation
    03. Visions from the Darkside
    04. Maze of Torment
    05. Chapel of Ghouls
    06. Guitar solo
    07. Bleed For The Devil
    08. Damnation
    09. Blasphemy
    10. Lord Of All Fevers and Plague
    11. Evil Spells

I think I'll be snapping this one up for sure! Can I hear the sounds of Ancient1 having a conniption fit? :v:

Nice. Another drain on the wallet.

Is this the second or third re-issue of this album?

Did anyone get the Blessed Are The Sick remaster and, if so, is there any major improvement in the sound compared to the original?

    Nice :D:D

You can never have too many copies of Altars, regardless of format!
    Looking forward to that DVD!

I don't have any of their remasters, J, although I hear that there is no overall improvement, except extended liner notes, pics etc.

But why would anyone want to "improve" the old MA classics? I like em just the way they are. I can't get into the Megadeth remasters either. I listen to them occasionally just to get a different angle on the song, but the originals are untouchable. Even bad productions add to the atmosphere of an album, imo.

Still, it's not going to put me off getting this - if it's an essential release then remaster it all you like! :p

Bah, Blessed Are The Sick is the real classic :p

Don't hit me, but Blessed are the Sick was never my favourite Morbid Angel album. Covenant, and Domination, now those are sheer astonishing works.

I'm really looking forward to this release though. I don't actually have Alters Of Madness. Yes I know, for shame. I don't have Formulaes Fatal to the Flesh, or the live album either. So hopefully this should absolutely rule.

Get them all, man, without exception.
A lot of people moan about many of their albums, be it production or musical direction - whatever. And for the record I hate this bullsh1t "debate" about Vincent vs. Tucker. They were both equally integral to Morbid Angel, imo.
Take it from me - Morbid Angel is a ****ing experience on every single album without fail.

time to dig out that old joke again

"Bow to me splendidly....bow to me faithfully"

    "Bow to me splendidly???"

    "Woah, was that a bear?"

    oh the hilarity

Oh agreed, I do want to get all their stuff, I've never been let down by a CD of theirs. Some people do get caught up about the later albums being ****, but I don't see it myself, I really liked Gateways and Heretic. There's definetly always an experience, it just won't be the same experience.

Picked this up today. Class stuff altogether, the DVD side is very good indeed, excellent gig.

I wonder now that Dave's back in the band, will they go for a big DVD release? I'd love to see a decent amount of stuff from all their albums played live. And to see them live in person too. ;)
