Live in Beachdale. Broadband is definitely available [several houses have it] but all lines fail the Eircom test - even those numbers that have Broadband. Eircom refuse to discuss the reason for failure. New cable from my house to street was replaced 3 months ago. Any suggestions how to move forward.

Check out the NE Wicklow GBS which will be rolling out in the Kilcoole area shortly.

Thanks, but already subscribed to that and waiting but it doesn't appear to be a full BB service i.e. need own modem to upload! So frustrating to KNOW that cable into house is fully BB capable and yet Eircom won't provide service nor can any other ISP as line 'appears' to fail pretest.

If you go to Netsource's site and run their test, you'll see when the test runs. It runs once a month. Around that time, unplug everything from the phone sockets. If you have a lot of extensions on your line in your house, disconnect them from the main socket. The less stuff there's on the line the likelier it is to pass the test. Once passed and ordered, you can stick it all back again.

    Hi,

the service provided under the GBS will be a full service. The ISP will run a cable from the receiver (which includes the 'modem') on the roof to a suitable place in your house. This cable will connect directly into the NIC on your computer. If you want to share the connection among several computers then you can plug the cable into a router.

Many thanks for suggestion. Maybe I'm missing something - checked NetSource website but cannot seem to find the info on when the lines are tested?
    Cheers
