    Hi all,

Are all SSIII Celicas BEAMS tuned or is it only some of them? Are any SSII Celicas BEAMS tuned? What year did they start the tuning?

    Thanks

The Celica SSII / GT-S grade was powered by an all-new 1.8 liter, four-cylinder DOHC all-aluminum engine that generated 180 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 133 lbs./ft. of torque at 6,800 rpm. The SSII / GT-S powerplant, co-developed with Yamaha, utilized variable valve timing and lift, with intelligence control (VVTL-i) that increased the intake/exhaust lift when the engine speed was high enough to improve output and fuel efficiency. The SSI / GT model's 1.8-liter, four cylinder came equipped with VVT-i and produced 140 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 125 lbs./ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm.

SS3 has the vvti beams revision engine, thats how it gets the extra power

Not all SS3's are Beams.. they are rare.

The SS3 is the higher horsepower engine and will have superstrut suspension as standard. SS2 had the option of superstrut...

    The 3SGE ss3 &ss2 will have 175bhp or thereabouts. SS1 will have 140bhp
The VVti Red Top Beams will have 200BHP

by the way, these (including the ss2's) are incredible hard to insure. I was told by the insurance co that a GT4 Celica would cost me less, and its a much more powerful car

    I just got a quote for this ss2 - http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carid=331477 for €1377.07 I think that's good.... but ss2's are 2ltr, this says 1.8. 190bhp - might get it.
