    Been advised my Catalytic convertor is breaking up and I'm thinking 'opportunity' as opposed to sh!te. Read a good bit about exhausts on the web but can't seem to find a diagram of the E36 system anywhere.

    If anyone has the above, or exhaust upgrade ideas and cat/exhaust costs, let me know? I have a '96 E36 323i Coupe 5sp Auto.

    There's a rattle on startup that stops when it's warm, the mechanic said it's starting to break-up. I'm going to keep it until at least the end of the summer but would like to enjoy the next 9 months with it, I've always kept it tip top...

    Heres the factory diagram and part nr's for your exhaust - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=BF72&mospid=47429&hg=18&fg=10

    If you're looking for an aftermarket exhaust, we're running another group buy on my site for Eisenmann or Supersprint systems - they're probably the best two manufacturers of exhausts for BMW's. 20% off Eisenmann and 15% off Supersprint - http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=156

    Would be interested in the Supersprint I think, would like a bit more of a 'burble' at idle:

    BMW E36 320i / 323i 24V (Saloon-Coupé-Cabrio-Estate) ‘95 ->
    * 78.55.01 Manifold stainless for OEM Kat. LHD only 622.15 658.23
    (fits model with automatic transmission, too)
    ¢ 78.53.02 Centre exhaust (replaces Kat.) 198.70 210.23

    * ● 78.35.59 Rear exh. 100% stainless EVO2 Rect. 145x75 399.53 422.71

    Presume the last two items are the same but one is SS? Could I get a CAT from elsewhere and it would all fit together Ok? Can't really figure the pricing, is it just convert to Euro then -15% ? Found this on ebay though, any thoughts:

    Hi,

    I'd try GSF online and see what the cat would cost:- http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ , they are based just of the naas road, they also offer you different grades of the same part, in their parts list BQ=Better quality

    I needed a back box for my E36, the best quote i got was 330 Euro for the back box + bracket fitted. Got onto GSF and they had one in stock, it was about 90 Euro for the box + bracket, including VAT. Picked it up, it took about 20/30 mins to fit.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave
