Good header by Ferdinand but Man Utd mugged Liverpool who dominated the midfield for the whole game.

 You still have to put the ball in the net.

Mugged and dominated are not excately an accurate account.

I wouldn't say Liverpool completly dominated to be honest. Well played United, particularly Rio

Incorrect.. Both team were appalling today and Liverpool certainly did not deserve the points anymore than United did..

has anyone got a link to Nevilles "celebration ??"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,235 ✭✭✭iregk

The game was woeful and both teams deserved nothing more than a draw out of it.

Have to say Cisse gets my vote for the worst player in the Premiership.

Yeah Neville showed himself up to be the biggest tosser in the Premiership, you just gotta loath him........

LOL. Yea thats true but look at uniteds midfield, it was more or less a given before the game that Liverpool would dominate the midfield. Benitez can winge all he likes but at te end of the day he made a tactical error bringing on Krompkamp. Classic united scoring in injury time and a fully deserved victory for piling on the pressure right up to the end. As for the goal, world class!

Neville is a legend, wears his heart on his sleeve. Fowler did it years ago as said but he was a legend then was he not?

I'm a Pool fan and to be honest you can't blame Neville for what he did...Fowler is still doing it. And I think Benitez made a tactical error bringing on Kromkamp that late. Straight away Utd went down that side and made the most of it....Giggs especially in the last 10 mins was starting to run at Liverpool and I could see the goal coming.
Gerrards face at the end summed it up...ok he was gutted, but its just one game and he knows with the 2 games in hand, its not over yet.

Neville is a LEG END more like, a complete tosser. Unpopular amongest his fellow professionals too. Referred to as "Busy Bollocks".

Wears his heart on his sleeve, yeah right !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

I couldn't care less what Neville did. If I was him I would think more of myself than to sink to that kind of level, same to Fowler. But I'm not either of them, so I'm happy. Then again, they can console their moral depravity with lots of money, so they're probably happy too.
In the end no one loses....

...apart from the working class liverpool fans... they lost....

Still a legend, captain of the winners of that match too. Class isn't it.

    Anyone?
Missed MOTD2 last night as my TV went on the blink :(

I know there's huge rivalry and the Pool fans gave him lots of abuse, but what he did was still out of order for a professional footballer.
It's nice to see passion, but it's wrong to see it abused.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 52 ✭✭Defcon 5

The game was by no means a classic it had draw written all over it that is until Rio scored what was a fantastic goal ,liverpool marking was poor but it was Giggs cross that made it as for Neville's celebration who care's all the matters is that united got all 3 points :D

Like him or loath him, to question his passion is just silly really. One of United's greatest servants in this era.

Hmm, might want to retract that, lest it be construed as abuse......

In fairness, the Liverpool fans are claiming encitement (sp?) against Gary but they were the ones singing "Are you watching Georgie Best?"
I've seen worse done and think it was a passionate celebration at worst. Not like he was giving him the **** er/2 fingers salute.

Still recovering from the weekend as i was there in the stretford end when Rio popped up with the winner. still trying to get my voice back.:D

Is that all Lfc fans can say "we won it 5 times", as pornapster says all the united fans sang "have you ever won a treble, have you fcuk"

have to admit was a bit of a boring match, but united kept going till the end and thats what wins matchs when you don't give up till the final whistle, and that is ezactly what they did

Same here mate, I was just beside the tunnel right in line with the endline and had a perfect view of the goal. The atmosphere at the end was electric. Did you go over to Manchester on a package deal Gkelly?

Last weekend i did i travelled with the Irish supportes club, got a place at the last moment, well lucky...............

Sometimes i usually go over with a few lads, by flying in and getting the boat home the same day.

    How do you travel over??

well said look at the midfield fergie put out and he still got a result there is life in the old dog yet and we have proved were still better than the pool again this season four points out of six isnt bad against the european champions ha ha

Welcome back chiller, enjoy your stay.

As has already been said, the problem is not that Manu united can't win the big ones, it is that they cannot consictently beat the teams that they used to thrash, like Man city and Middlesborough and the rest of the mid - lower end of the table teams.

john o shea is a great player gives his all in any match he plays he did well against liverpool till he went of injuried. and if darren fletcher was allowed play football instead of being critisiced for everything and anything he does he might get some confindence. and they are both committed and loyal to the club

I have to agree we are not beating the teams in the mid-table, but we can beat the teams in the top six, it is just not good enough

Every way possible! :D Last weekend I got a package deal over as I really wanted to see this game. It was a very long trip though, 11 hours with bus and boat.

But usually I fly over with supporters club tickets and either stay the night in the city or get a late flight home.

I did indeed Muppet! Due to the events on Sunday, I nearly missed the boat home on Monday. I think that should tell its own story! :p

Whats changed now is that to win the league you can only drop a handful of points, losing a game here and there is no longer acceptable. Although united were always tough to beat they did draw alot of games. Have a look at league tables gone by:

    http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/99-00/table.asp

    drew 7, lost 3 in 2000
    drew 13, lost 3 in 1999
Drew 8, lost 7 in 1997 (2nd place by 1 point, Arsenal drew 9, lost 6 that yr)

These kind of stats are now judged as "going down the pan" standards these days.

United will adjust....just not this season :(

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Indeed I was Gkelly, that was one horrible wait. Its bad enough that the journey by boat takes over three hours never mind a huge delay to go with it! But it was all well worth it at the end of the day! Manchester is a great city to go out in on a Saturday night, I must say.

never say never look at newcastle a few seasons ago if chelsea lose to liverpool in two weeks u never know what will happen 14 points ahead fifteen games left to play. so anything can happen. who considers them stats as going down the pan? in the 1999 season we won the triple and in the 200 season we won the league hardly down the pan to b honest!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Chelsea need to collapse on their own for United to catch them.
We can no longer exert any serious pressure on them, we're too far behind.
They have to do badly on their own, then we can catch them.
However I don't think its likely that we can.
