Priestley wins PDC event

Dennis Priestley won the PDC event in Gibraltar over the weekend beating Terry Jenkins in the final. I think Taylor and Dudbridge were about the only top names not involved. Of Irish interest Mick McGowan had a decent run, beating Lionel Sams and Steve Beaton before falling to Colin Lloyd at the last 16 stage.

As an aside beaten semi-finalist Jason Clark (came quite close to beating Manley in the world championships) has been handed a £1,000 fine and banned from darts for 1 year - pending an appeal which is to be heard shortly.

Apparently there was a darts event in the Netherlands recently, and a lot of people took a lot of drink. 4 "Southerners" (i.e. south of England) were the worst behaved.

Jason Clark was dancing on the stage with his shirt over his head and his trousers around his ankles, and he waggled his backside to the packed audience. He said he has no memory whatsoever of the incident, but there were plenty of witnesses!!

Another guy threw up all over the bar and was involved in threatening behaviour towards Adrian Lewis. He got a £750 fine and 1 year suspended ban . The other two were "just" out of their face drunk in public at a PDC event and got £250 fines and 3 months suspended bans. I don't know who the final 3 were - Mardle might be a suspect given he's a Southerner known to be a bit of a lad!

Good report surprised Priestly won though happy for him. Interesting to hear about the bans and fines!.
Mason is bang out of form. I think he still has that prison term he did weighing heavily on him.

Delighted for Priestley, I have always been a bit of a fan of his. Ths is the second event of the year IIRC with Kevin Painter having won a UK regional event against Colin Lloyd earlier in the month.

Thats ineresting to hear about the fines especially since me and Rooster were talking about darts and drinking in another thread :D

A year ban seems a bit harsh to me though

Jason Clark's appeal is to be heard on February 9. (Apparently he received the letter telling him about his ban 2 days before the world championships began  )

The other three who each got £750 fines but no bans were Wayne Mardle, Andy Jenkins and Colin Monk.

Your prediction that Wayne Mardle was involved was right Rooster. Colin Monk being involved doesnt surprise me an awful lot either!

Jason Clark has had his ban lifted, however he has received an 18 month suspended ban, i.e. if he steps out of line in any way in the next 18 months he'll get his ban. However, his fine has increased to €1,500. He's not happy with that and is considering his options.

Any Jenkins also appealed his €750 fine and 12 month suspended ban. On appeal this was turned into €850 fine and 12 month suspended ban! So he's not too happy either!

Wayne Mardle appealed his his €750 fine and 12 month suspended ban and he ended up with a €750 fine and 4 month suspended ban. So he's relatively happy.

Colin Monk's appeal was not heard (maybe he didnt appeal).

Well Clarke must be happy that his ban has been turned into suspended ban. I know that €1,500 is probably an awful lot of money for him but it allows him to continue playing. As for Jenkins thats very strange that his punishment was actually made worse on appeal by increasing his fine. I have never heard of that before so you can really blame him for being unhappy! Mardle should definitely be happy and he also the one that is most ikely to be able to afford the fine.
