I'm on an Eircom 384/3072 line and i've just fired up world of warcraft. i'm having trouble with high ping so i did a tracert. here is (the important) part of it... I can see that theres obviously a problem between 83.71.112.58 & 83.71.112.94.

Can anyone tell me what that IP is?
From memory i recall that there should be a hop to london around about there can anyone confirm that?
Does anyone else get a similar result for that IP?

Any help appreciated

/edit if anyone does do the tracert, there are just timeouts from entry number 10 onwards. This is normal apparently, something to do with security on the Blizzard servers

eircoms dns servers?
doesnt explain the long delay tho..

reset your connection or try to get alternative dns

a slow DNS would only affect the initial request to resolve the www address to an IP. it wouldn't affect ping times.

i meant the ips resolve to auth01.ns.eircom.net and auth02.ns.eircom.net.
ns usually implies its a name server

Im having a similar problem with that server.
Seems to be a routing problem to the UK as all the game servers are ping in the 600-700ms.

Yeah same for me. Getting a ping of 633 to a game server in the UK, i normally get about 40!

Has anyone gotten any response from Eircom support on this?
