Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Only in Ireland honestly only in Ireland.....

This is a summing up for the radical proposals outlined on foot.ie

These are the new EL teams:

    Cork City
    Derry City
    Waterford United
    Galway United
    Limerick
    Shels
    Shamrock Rovers
    One of Dundalk & Drogheda
    Sligo
    Longford

And thats it all picked by area history and other mad ideas!!!

Guess its back to the Pheno for Bohs and Pats, the vote is on Saturday and requires 2 3rds to go through which it would get technically if the above all voted yes.

The EL is about to kill football worldwide who would have thought it be our little league that rips UEFA and FIFA apart. Why? The legal challenge that would follow would allow Pats and Bohs to operate as a business in any state they want to as stated by EU law(think Bosman for clubs :D).

'The bottom team in the First Division will face a play-off against the winners of a round-robin play-off featuring intermediate teams eager to climb the footballing ladder.'

Interesting idea which could work well or fail horribly . It could kill off the team that's relegated .

Typical , they are now playing the games in the boardroom. Its not a bit wonder no-one supports the Eircom league when we have a farse of an administration. This is a joke surely.

    Its like fantasy football.

It won't get implemented. Other teams need Pats and Bohs to come to their venues for financial reasons. Mental idea, it sucks.

Technically true but this is the FAI the EL until now has been outside the powers of the FAI, should the FAI take over again this could happen or a breakaway league is formed ala Setanta League.

If a breakaway league was formed, what would the story be with regards to european competition?

The FAI nominates the team to go forward to compete in each competition , so it would be whoever they want .

They currently don't even have to give the league winners the Champions League place if they don't want to .

I think if we get 'relegated' we should just apply to join the Irish League. That'd be a lovely two-fingers up to the FAI. We used to play up there anyway prior to the FAI so we'd probably have grounds to rejoin, and if not we can just claim racial persecution at the European court of law. :)

The most bizarre, impossible, and ridiculous idea I've ever heard. If this gets voted in and implemented I may just set myself on fire in front of the FAI headquarters in Merrion Square. And I don't even follow Bohs or Pats.

    What is this re-structure?
A vote has been taken today at the eircom League AGM in Limerick which is set to change the structure of the League next year.

18 of the 22 clubs voted in favour of re-structuring the league at the end of next season, with no promotion or relegation to take place.

It is the first step towards a full merger between the League and the FAI, following proposals by the FAI to operate a financially viable league in 2007, when clubs will be placed in divisions which reflect this season's league placing, facilities and each club's marketability.

Seemingly FAI will have full control over the league, and decide who goes into what division at the start of 2007. I don't know alot about it, but from what i know I'm appauled!
