What ever happened to stripes on the sides of cars?

back in the 80's/90's everybody had them,

I suppose the modern equivelant is Lexus type rear lights, which look equally rubbish.

The only car (that i can think of) to have side vynal graphics fitted from factory is the Land Cruiser VX100, but the 2006 upgraded model doesn't have them anymore

I suppose side stripes was car modifying on a budget, back when Ireland was broke!

Even Lexus don't do "Lexus Lights" any more (except maybe on the RX300)
Bear in mind that the IS200/Altezza came out over 6 years ago, they were cool then. not now. but oiks in Civics and Lancers treat them as some sort of improvement on their pox-box
