Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We drew twice with them this season in the Champions league.
Ah forgot that. Still nothing to be writing home about.

Teams I was happy to avoid over Liverpool:
    Bolton, Manchester City, Middlesbrough

To suggest Arsenal play an english stlye of football is just untrue, they play a 4-4-2 which is anything but physical. Also, while beat them last season, let's see how you do against them this season when they have something to fight for.

I still don't think Liverpool have the ability to beat another team which plays a solid 4-4-2 with decent players who play a physical 4-4-2. It's not just to do with United, it's to do with their overall preformance against physical english teams, specifically this year, look at United, Bolton, Luton, Brum, Spurs, Middlesborough. They can handle them mostly in defense, but up front, they are totally lacking due to the style of formation, so against a team which attacks enough, they tend not to be able to handle it, because they can't score enough to compete.

United - drew, lost to last minute winner, but of course your midfield dominated us.
    luton - won 5-3.

brum - 2-2 away(same result you lot got wasnt it?)

spurs - drew away, won at home(something united couldnt do)

boro - drew away(something united couldnt do aswell), won at home.(2-0)

    Bolton - 2-2 draw.

YOur right, were **** against the physical sides, no where near as good as united.

scored 2 goals in alot of those games, terrible. Such a shame we cant score enough to compete with united.

Thats the whole point, United falter against physical sides often this season, specifically because of our complete lack of midfield, thus if we get a physical side int eh FA cup, anything could happen, but if we get a tactical side, i'm much more comfortable with that, as I feel United overall are better at beating those sides.

Man city, boro physical? Dont agree with that myself. How are they physical?

Spurs are a very good footballing side, again wouldnt be classed as a physical team. United just dont see to arsed getting motivated for teams outside of the "big 3". SO there midfield lets them down.

Sometimes you are right on the ball PHB but more often than not, you make mental comments that must seem like trolling to some. You would honestly prefer to play the above teams above Liverpool ?

In an FA Cup round, with a weakened midfield, I would honastly prefer to play Liverpool. I'm not trolling, why in the world would I troll, it has no real interest, infact it annoys me when people disagree with me, but I think that we have abetter chance of beating Liverpool than we have of beating those 3 other teams. I'm not saying I don't like our chances against them, and over the entire season I'd happily take them on over liverpool, but i'm fairly confident in a one off game, we're more likely to be beaten by those 3 other teams, than by Liverpool.

Well if that's how you feel I'd advise you to put your money where your mouth is. You will get as good odds on a United win as you ever will.

I don't mean to come across as partonising (oxymoron coming up) but the idea that "with a weakened midfield" you would rather play Liverpool than a physical side shows a clear lack of knowledge of the game. Whoever plays in Uniteds "weakened" (or is that regular at this stage?) midfield will at least be able to handle a physical battle. They would be destroyed if players like Alonso and Gerrard actually played to their capabilities, they will hardly out battle the two of them either.

No matter how well the likes of Boro's or Bolton's CM's play, the likes of Fletcher and Smith could match them for effort, and probably ability as well.

Roll on the 18th. It's hardly the perfect draw. But if Liverpool were ever going to be eliminated I would rather sooner over later. It'll be nice to get a chance at revenge too. And you can't beat the big games for atmosphere, even if they usually end up crap!

    I have already :)

The United midfield is as weak as weak can be at the moment. Richardson, Fletcher and Smith are our only CM's. We cannot match anyone for physical battle, Fletcher is weak, smith just fouls non stop, and Richardson is a winger, and is tiny.
Fletchers ability to read the game can keep players like Alonso and Gerrard in check to some extent, while in a physical battle, we are destroyed.
Our central defenders can read the balls played by them very well aswell, see Rio in the last game, so we can handle them. However raw strength through the middle is tougher to handle for United to handle atm, so i'm happy to play liverpool.

I don't think any Liverpool fans think it will be an easy victory. I think all Liverpool fans think they have a chance, and that it will be a good chance to avenge a recent defeat. I also don't see any Liverpool fans claiming that they are pleased with the draw because "it could have been worse".
