Central Ireland Temperature

Just browsing many of the English weather websites and noticed how a CET (Central England Temperature) is used to evaluate average amounts for England. Do we have a similar system here? If we don't, why don't we? What stations would we use... Ideas?

The well respected Philip Eden does one for Ireland.

You can track it at http://www.climate-uk.com/page2.html later in the month when there is a few days of stats to generate meaningful deviations etc

Btw - that site looks terrible in Firefox, need to use I.E.
