Ive been using this product for a 2 months now and thought
i'd post to let fellow fishkeepers know...

Basically you add three organic compounds to your tank
which keeps all your water paramaters under control, keeps
    your fish healthy.

You know the way when you get a tank, you leave the water to settle
and then start adding fish slowly, doing regular water changes and making
sure that your ammonia and nitrites dont get to dangerous levels.

well that's all gone out the window. I set up my tank, added the organics
and the water and ALL my fish in the first day... fed them from day one
and haven't had one death or even one fish looking dodgy.

Every week you add a quarter bottle of organic aquarium
general treatment and once a month (only) you do a 1/4 water change

I've got a big cichlid tank that i used to be doing weekly water changes on so this makes all the difference. The fish are growing faster, spawning more and showing better colours. It's crazy.

As for how it works.. im not too sure. The only thing is that you have to get an air pump going in the tank which apparently diffuses the toxic gasses like ammonia/nitrite out the tank so they never build up and get to dangerous levels.

It's a south african product but fishfx seem to be the only ones stockking it. If you buy it online it's 25% cheaper.

check out another guys tank using it looks amazing

Anyway anyone else using it... ?
    what do you think?

    Too good to be true?

I also have a cichlid tank, 200L .. weekly changes .. so that sounds interesting
If you have any plants; any effects on them ?
    Less

i dont have any plants in my cichlid tank
ive tried before but they just savage them every time.

But the answer is nope ..you can use this product in planted tanks
There's also a marine/reef version for it too. Which makes me consider
keeping marines for the first time ever.

I know the stuff and IMO its just another way of robbing the aquarist out of a few quid.

Whats the benefits of using this stuff over a cycled aquarium?

The only benefit that i can see is when your starting an aquarium you can add fish from the start instead of waiting until its cycled, is this correct?

How much does it cost to run a 400 litre tank if there is a 100 litre water change weekly?

What if you run out of this stuff and you cant get to CashFX for some more, your tank is always depending on this unnecessary additive.

You seem to promote FishFX alot on these boards, Why don't you post when they have some bargains or have good deals on stuff.

The benefits for me are that
i only do 1/4 water change once a month now
as opposed to once a week.

Secondly my fish were scratching a lot and quite aggressive.
This seems to have stopped the scratching/flicking.

You also save money on dechlorinator seeing as you
don't need to use stress coat or similar with this product.

To run a 400 litre tank would be €16.68 monthly.
    a little over 4 euro a week.

You can always switch back from using this product to
the old skool way and just do your water changes as normal.

I spend a good bit of my free time out in FishFX so i'll keep you
posted if they have bargains or good deals. Thats the reason
I posted about the organic aquariums stuff. They convinced me
to try it and Ive been so happy with the results..

As far as I know they are getting in a fresh order of plants today so if you want aquarium plants get em while they're fresh and plentiful....

Would you not then have to cycle a developed tank with the fish in it?

Something wasn't right with your tank in the first place. Ectoparasite is the most common cause of flicking AKA flashing. Its basically an external parasite the same as a flee on a dog.

FishFX is by far the most expensive around, everything else about them is good if not very good. Its not as if they have massif rent to pay either as the are out the back of the pet shop. They don't do a good job keeping customers as i for one do shop there anymore and i know of plenty of others.

    Good point.

    a little over 4 euro a week.

Could you break that down a little further, Because of the need to only do monthly water change does that then mean it will cost 16 euro a water change?

No cos you'd still have biological filtration going with your filters.
So you would just have to swich back to weekly water changes
and monitor your levels for the first few weeks. You can add
the stuff to an already cycled tank with no problem either

Sometimes they can be expensive. For regular stuff but they won't ever
sell you a sick fish and while some of the other places dont really offer
any advice, ive always found FishFX the most approachable and most
    helpful.

Yup it'd still cost about 16 per water change to replace the compounds
that you are taking out with a water change..
The kits come in different sizes based on tank
    volume and are priced accordingly.

It's three different compounds, bacteria, health treatment and generaltreatment .. of which the general treatment you add a quarter
of the monthly dose on a weekly basis...

    here's the different sizes and
    heres the prices

I think its a good idea to start into your fishkeeping life, So many people have problems with cycling tanks. If thats what it takes to stop SOME people killing their fish, so be it.

Good point.. so many people want to buy a tank for christmas (my first one was a chrimbo present) and want to add fish from day one despite all the warnings and advice.. with this they can and the fish are happy and at least have a good fighting chance.
