Generally a cover up is going to be larger and darker than the tattoo it is covering. Post us up a picture to have a gander, although the artist who would do it would be the only one who could really say...

If that's the case then bring the question to a professional and show them.

It can sometimes be done over it's hard to say without seeing it, like I said bigger and darker or it can be incorporated into a design

I think a lot of cover ups are just trying to get to the tattoo that they originally wanted and it sometimes just has to be drawn better to bring out what was asked for.
