No major changes to the site, but a new logo for the main page and the new forum

What do people think? Good ? Bad? Pig ugly?

Great site. Logo is perfect I think. Smart and to the point. Nice clean design for the listings on the homepage too.

Oddly enough, the first impression I got was that it looks like a placeholder page.

That aside, I like the logo :)

    Nice site.
As others have mentioned, it seems well structured.

Just from a purely marketing / presentation POV, I dont think the colour scheme or logo do anything to highlight the fact it's a Irish site.
I know you have "Irelands Internet Directory" underneath, but it seems a bit too dull.
Perhaps a slight adjustment to the logo (very rough attempt attached) would highlight this better... it also looks like a magnifying glass on the country and what the search can do.

    Hope that's helpful feedback :)

EDIT : LOL - just realised I spelt it wrong! Sorry about that ... fixed that now :v:

i think the logo concept is great, but it looks unfinished somehow, I think it still needs some small alts imo

The Join the IIA image doesn't look as clean as the rest of the site apart from that it looks well.

    Nice site.

Hadn't noticed it before - is it new?

Just added a link and wondered whether you allow html in the decription? Add Link page didn't mention rules governing html usage.

    On the site:
I might be inclined to center the RHS google adds and IIA ad if possible.

Also quite a few html errors on home page:

line 131 column 1 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 131 column 5 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 145 column 106 - Warning: <img> element not empty or not closed
line 146 column 1 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 146 column 5 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> unexpected or duplicate quote mark
line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> attribute with missing trailing quote mark
line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> attribute "association'" lacks value
line 146 column 190 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 146 column 194 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 147 column 20 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
    line 153 column 126 - Warning: '<' + '/' + letter not allowed here
    line 153 column 215 - Warning: '<' + '/' + letter not allowed here
line 156 column 1 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 165 column 10 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
line 165 column 14 - Warning: <br> element not empty or not closed
    line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> attribute "width" has invalid value "97 height="
line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> proprietary attribute "the"
line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> proprietary attribute "irish"
line 146 column 56 - Warning: <img> proprietary attribute "internet"

    0 errors / 28 warnings

    Hope this helps

Yep same here... needs a bit more personality... less clutter IMHO.

    Nice version :)
However I was trying to avoid the "Oirish" type of idea..

I agree on the placeholder comment. It looks like you're about to tell me I need to pay you vast amounts of money for the domain.

The logo is nice, but the rest of the page badly needs to be cleaned up.

I went looking for examples of why it reminds me of a domain squatter site... and I think it's down to the textual head-butt/eye-gouge/wedgie you get from all those categories in blue/bold.
Have a look at this example... http://www.lolol.com (tab back and forth between this and search.ie)
It appears even Yahoo.com has abandoned this look, which I'm sure it pioneered years ago.

And just for fun, http://www.domainsquatter.com is actually taken by a domain squatter! (does that make it a paradox? oh my brain hurts)

Exact same here - logo is very nice but I thought someone was squatting on the domain name first. I think its because the categories look so clustered and because they are being contained inside the box so tightly. It could also be because their is so much text on the page i.e. categories on the mid to left and then the latest discussions on the right - just confuses things a little I think. Sorry its hard to describe why exactly.

Also the IIA logo sticks out making it look like it doesn't belong which makes the webpage look a bit amateurish.

    Interesting feedback...

The IIA logo - I'll have to speak to them about that.

The layout on the main page - I'll take your comments on board and see if the categories can be spread out a bit more to make it look less like a domain squat :)

I like the design of the logo, smart and professional. I do agree with the comments however, that the site does look a little like a domain squatting page, might be the blue and white colour theme. I note you are trying to avoid an Oirish feel but I feel a gree theme to the site and logo would help.

What script does the site use?

    Like the logo.

The site looked a bit dazzling at first and the colours a bit adrift.

Maybe if the link text blue and the blue in the top nav bar were the same hue as the blue used in 'Search' in the logo it might look more settled?

yeah i like the logo concept but the colors just let it down. the guy who designed it - his site has pretty dull colors too.

    greys and desaturated blues:(

Its a holding page at the mo .. site is being re-designed.
