mine has been crawling most of the time since the upgrade on the 21st, its not too bad during the morning, early afternoon and late at night but from about 3pm till nearly midnight it goes really bad and pings are through the roof.

Today and yesterday i've seen 20% packet loss between 6 and 8 pm off the Shantalla exchange here in Galway.

Result is basically unusable net connection grrr

ive a feeling its contention kicking in, everyone on this 2mb and 3mb connections downloading everything in sight. - I reckon this is as good as it gets untill eircom upgrade their backhaul.

today is the first day of stable internet access Ive had since Saturday 21st of January but I dont expect it to last with another 5/6 hours of peaktime internet useage ahead. Im still on 2mb after being downgraded from 3mb last week, eircom told me on tuesday evening that it wiill take them a few days to reupgrade me to 3mb, does it normally take that long?

my internet once again has been a pile of crap since about 7.30pm this evening and theres no letup init, ive done everything to try and fix it - ive ran virus checkers from 3 different programmes, ran spyware from 4 different programmes, ive reinstalled my modem and software, cleared the temporary internet folders and its still bad, yet my friend just 3 houses away from me gets no problems whatsoever. Its not my line because it works fine after midnight and during the morning till early afternoon before taking a fit around 5pm and this all started the day the upgrades were done. Im currently getting 450k down and 34k up and pings are rotten. Im 2km from my exchange had broadband for past 2 years and not a single problem till the day of the upgrade 2 weeks ago.

my line stats are pretty good so im at a loss why my internet is so ****e in the evening:

    Downstream Upstream

    SNR Margin: 16.52 23. 0 dB
    Line Attenuation: 37.47 20. 0 dB
    Errored Seconds: 0 0

    Loss of Frame: 0 0
    FEC Errors: 0 0
    CRC Errors: 0 13
    Data Rate: 2048 256

    and heres my lovely pings:(

What sorta packet loss were you getting on a ping? From what i can see the level of Congestion on Eircom DSL has gone way up. I know i sent them a email with 3 separate pings all showing packet loss of 15-18%. Last night was alot better but i was still averaging between 1 and 3% packet loss.

thats the weird thing with all the high pings and awfull download rates I have not got packet loss once even at the worst of times.

right now my connection is fine coz its the morning but come 6pm this evening it will be useless, pings remain over 500ms between about 5pm and midnight every night without fail - since the day of the upgrade.

just after checking all my settings with my friends (his works perfectly) and the only difference between his and mine is under DSL statistics his path is set to interleved and mine is set to fastpath, would that make a difference?

According to blackknight speed test my speeds are 1.4 mbpsdload and 312 upload.

Rang eircom done their speedtest and got 299 kbps which is about right.

Tried downloading from gamershell which i normally gauge download speeds from and was getting about 270 kbps, not what i was getting lastweek which was 330 kbps but its not as low as blackknight suggests.
Maybe that test is getting hammered or acting up.
My ingame pings are normal since upgrade but still not as good as most reported pings ive seen here even though im less than quarter of a mile from exchange.
