IF you think that is bad, wait till you start talking ship loadouts. I still don't know all the abbrieviations.

am after doin the trojan horse missions and a few other missions and have 2 pirate aggression missions now but i dont stand a chance against the pirates, can any one help? or point in the right direction for easier missions?

what ship have you got, a frigate should be grand.

For PVE in a friagte, I would run an Incrusus

3 light ion blasters with antimatter

An afterburner, with two cap rechargers

A small armor repair and a Magnetic Field Stabelizer

Your shield will go down quick but that can recharge over time, if you start to lose armor turn on the armor repair.

Honestly I have taken down cruiser sized rats in this setup

use a rifter or a punisher.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭tba

He has a gallente character, so thats why I suggested the gallente frigate route, what would you run on the rifter or punisher?

Yesterday had my first real PvP action, was in a Cyc and took down a Ferox 1on1, then later I had to defend myself against an Omen with a Malediction tackler. Later on still was helping out a newb in my corp was in a rifter he had a Gallente destroyer, took down 2 punishers 2 rifters and slasher, we won but the last one was very close, limped back to Arif with 33% structure. Fun though!

i didnt see his characters race hence why i suggested these.

yeah incursus is the best you can use i guess.

If you wanted you could change the mag stab in low for a pdu to increase cap and shield recharge.

If you need help with anything pm me your characters name and i will help.

Start training for a taranis. Get your T2 guns trained :)

such an amount of information to take in

yeh am running an incursus with 2 light ion blasters, was easy enough to kill them and went on a killing spree got loads of kills.

problem was i just **** the load when i warped in and 5 ships started targeting me and firing!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭tba

if you put a armor repair on and some cap rechargers then you can turn the repairer on when you get targeted and not worry too much about cap.

The problem with T2 ships is that the insurance payout when they go pop is usually only a fraction of the cost of the ship ... losing my sacrilege hurt a lot (cost 140m ... payout was a tiny fraction of that) ....
Moral of the story is dont take a HAC on an Op where you are the only HAC in the gang ...you are always called primary :(

I typically use a Punisher when ratting. As it’s optimised for close range combat it means that I can pretty much take any rat on in down to 0.2 space without difficulty as with cruisers and battle cruisers, once you get in under 2 km their guns simply can’t hit you (plus it’s their cap that’s feeding your guns at that stage, thanks to the nos).

Financially, to buy, kit out and insure one will cost between 300k and 400k, which you’ll easily make back ratting in 0.3 in ten minutes. A good set-up is:

Hi (close range pain): Pulse lazer x 3 (fitted with Gamma lenses), small Nos x 1
Med (getting close quick): Afterburner x 1, Webber x 1 (Jammer x 1 if doing any PvP)
Low (armour tanking): Armour Repair x 1, Damage Control x 1, Adaptive Hardner x 1, Warp Stab or another hardener.

As with any Amarr ship it’s all about the armour tanking - Amarr shields are there just for decoration (although any active Damage Control will also give you a small resist on your shields).

A point on the use of Warp Stabs: many pirates will consider their use to be unsportsmanlike. Perhaps it is, but these are the same guys who will attack mining barges and indys using HAC’s and consider that sportsmanlike. So frankly, who the fsck do they think they’re kidding?

All this talk lately about nerfing Stabs is worrying, personally I think that it is fine atm, I wonder if the people calling for the nerfs, would like it if scramblers were nerfed aswell? After all I think it is unusual that a small inty/frigate can scramble a ship 10 times its size.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭tba

I don't mind the scramble ability of frigates and such, I mean the BS or BC or whatever can always have some stabs on.

well, i started playing again a few nights ago, and am once again enjoying myself. wanna go into 0.0 with my corp soon, but i need to learn my enyo better first. finally got tech 2 guns today, but now i need to earn some cash to buy them (2 mill for tech 2 125mm railguns :( ). also want to get some sort of ship that i can mine with, like a thorax, so i can afk mine a bit. ingame name is Kiiith btw (needed the extra i)

edit...does anyone by any chance have a spare thorax sitting in their hangers that i could borrow? or maybe a brutix/dominix? cause i really need to do some mining, but i only have an enyo currently...

I have 7.2 million skill points right now in industrycombat and am getting bored i think its time to move to 0.0 space would like to join an alliance though for some added protection

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Cheeky monkey

The Big Blue may be the best one atm because their close to empire they have naga and one of the corps in the alliance is an X merc corp so od say you'd be pretty well protected :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,892 ✭✭✭bizmark

I was thinking about the Iss navy for some pvp experiance or maybe ASCN for a mix of carebearing/pvp

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Cheeky monkey

i think iss navy are goin down but ascn may be a good choice i hear they have kaod -V- and FE on their side but its been a while since i checked

Interesting to finding so many Irish people playing EVE. I played consistently until I finally cancelled my subscription in January past (though stopped playing almost a year ago).

The problem I find annoying is that everytime I think to come back, I have no money to insure my Megathron and I aint going solo rat hunting in 0.0 with an uninsured Mega.

Shame really as I have a 25million skill point char, completely specialised in combat. (Up to BS).

Any of you guys have big good corps, who would be interested if I was to return to the game?

Some of you guys might be able to guess my old corp, by looking at my nickname.

I know a good few BoB members and Loktra Voktra members from my old CA days, so I was thinking of maybe snooping around there, IF I came back, which isnt definite by any stretch yet.

But I do remember Eve University, did you guys have Omber Zombie at one stage?

Anyway good to see some many Irish people playing it.

EVE the only thinking man's mmorpg. (hence why I still play WoW).

anybody give me any tips on making money in the game?

i've been playing it about a month now, just got my second thorax after losing the first one and i only have a mil isk, cant seem to build up money at all.

i've tried mining in an iteron but its just too slow and only gets 200k a load and i've tried doing missions but only get 60k or so a mission......

so any tips on how to make money a bit faster?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭tba

unfortunatly the quickest way to make money is in 0.0...

which means risking my ship? its probably not strong enough to deal with 0.0 space yet? only running 150mm railguns at the min
