A friend on the Whitehall exchange in Dublin
has a problem with her DSL link.
All connections in her home are hardwired,
    with no wireless components.
The odd thing about it is the pattern of dropouts.

Pretty much the same every day.
Stable up to about 4 or 5 pm and then erratic after that.
On a good evening you will get a few hours
on a bad one you will only get 10 minutes
    before the connection hangs.
Rebooting the modem establishes a new connection
and brings it all back up again straight away.

She's looked into electrical interference from heating systems etc.
and there are filters on both phones in the house.

AFAIK, the line was an ISDN line, downgraded to PSTN,
and then DSL enabled. I don't think that has any bearing
beyond it being a pretty good line to start with,
but it might mean something to somebody.
Eircom have tested the line up to much higher speeds
than she is using without problems as part of their investigation,
and have dropped it as a site wiring issue.

I'm going over tomorrow to see if I can find anything.
Anyone else seen time of day related dropouts?
Any input as to what might be causing them?

    Thanks,
    NiallB
