I just realised that it was always gaming that had me pining for a new system
now that i couldn't be bothered with PC gaming, i remain robust in the opinion that my relatively new system is still sweet (despite reading a thread where the recommended spec for a game blatently outclassed mine)

I have an athlon 64 bit 3400+, ~800mb ram and onboard ati graphics, which tbh suck......worse than my old system for pro evo
if i was bothered enough to waste money on a gfx card, i would consider this decent

so what do you use to play games?

    Athlon XP2600
    1gb pc3200 ram
    XFX 6800GS 256

Hoping to push that up to a Athlon 64 3500 soon, but as it is, it does me for most games.

    Athlon 64 3500+
    1 gig RAM
    Radeon 9600XT

It runs everything I try great as long as I go for reasonable settings, the graphics card isn't new but I don't see a reason to upgrade until I can't run something I want to run.

Up until a few months ago I was running the same card in a Athlon XP 2000+ with 512mb RAM and that's handled everything I've tried up to Civ IV pretty well.

    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1 GB PC3200 enhanced latency RAM
    Radeon X800XL 256MB

For some reason the F.E.A.R. demo ran like muck on it, just couldn't get a satisfactory FPS at all, but HL2, Doom 3 and COD2 run like a dream on medium settings. I will sell this system and buy a much higher spec AMD Athlon 64-based machine later this year.

nerf would seem pentium users are the minority here.

    P4 3.2g
    1 gig DDr2 400mhz ram
    fx5200 (128mb) overclocked to performance.

Can run any game i like on it with very minimal lagg on the higher end games.

however i will be getting a new system in the coming weeks, but we shall see what it is like =).

Eyerer, your problem is your onboard graphics card. It just won't cut it.

    My rig:
A64 3200+ (939) - going to drop a new x2 cpu in there in a few months time when they're cheaper.
    Abit AN8 motherboard
    2GB pc3200 ram
    XFX 6800GT pci-e
    audigy 2 zs
    Hiper 580w psu
and eh... 4 hard drives. Noisy

    MSI K8N NEO3-F, nForce4-4x,Socket-754 ATX, S-ATA/ATA, GbLAN, DDR, AGR/PCI-Ex16
    AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2GHz Socket 754, 1MB, BOXED w/fan (overclocked by 11% and lovin it!)
    Crucial PC3200 DDR-DIMM 2048MB CL3 KIT Kit w/two matched PC3200 CL3 DDRs
    Sapphire Radeon X700PRO 128MB GDDR3 PCI-Express,Tv-Out, DVI-I, Lite-Retail
Creative SB Audigy 2 Value, Bulk PCI Soundcard,7.1,Dolby Digital EX
    Maxtor 120GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Chieftec BX Miditower, Black 360W PSU
Logitech MOMO Racing Force-Feedback Steering Wheel and Pedals.

Would like to get a 256 graphics card soon (probably when GTR2 comes out in June) but that aside, she's a beast!
Plays GT Legends online with 23 other punters, 4X anti-aliasing, all in-game graphics set to full and still get 50 fps!

I love my PC I do!

    P4 3ghz
    1gig DDR400 ram
    6800GT 256MB
    24" Dell Monitor

My pc is starting to get on a bit but I played fear at max detail with 1920x1200 resolution and it actually ran pretty well. The FPS weren't exactly amazing but definitely playable.

I will most likely upgrade again at the end of the year.

i know, i wanted to keep my 9800 pro but then i realised this motherboard has pci-x and no agp.
as for buying a graphics card, i went and bought a new gamecube and mario kart for cheaper than a second hand 6600. go figure.

Ah PC gaming... haven't played much in a long time. I don't have a gaming rig as such... don't need much power for the Mac version of Fallout 2! :) (playing on iBook G4 with 1.2GHz G4 processor, 512MB RAM, 32MB Radeon 9200, 30GB HDD  , running OS X 10.4.4)
Consoles for me, thank you very much!

    Does the job for me.

    AMD 3700+
    1gb RAM
    256mb Radeon X800GTO

It's good enough for me, in my opinion spending ridiculous amounts of money on graphics cards and super duper RAM is pointless, just so you can achieve slightly better textures and bump mapping?.. pff
