Okay I am looking at spending around €6500.

What Kinda Beamer could get for that max engine size 1.6...

And what do you think of them are they reliable and are they costly to run ??

Great Question...... I was thinking the same!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Is there much of a difference in servicing a 1.8 engine or should I concentrate on the 1.6 i.e. tax, insurance, petrol....

For that money you will be looking at either and E30 or E36. Personally I would choose an E30 over and E36 anyday but i can't decide for you.
Whatever you choose, read a few buying guides first.

Essentially they really are the same engine and the same to service - very easy.

obviously more ccs = more power but if the extra cost will be a burden then stick with a 1.6.
