What a mess. How a team like Everton where allowed to invest 5.1M without anybody from the club seeing this player is beyond belief. That must have represented a fair 'ol chunk of their transfer budget. Ultimately the manager is too blame, however Moyes has done enough this season to hang onto his job. Similar enough to the Dia story many years ago which involved crank phone calls, although he played, I don't think any money changed hands.

Did he play much with Udinese? They got the CL this season so last year they must have had a decent enough centre back partnership. Even if Everton were after the other lad surely the two centre backs must have been half decent to get to the CL.

Look at Marco Materazzi. He played for Everton in 98/99 and I dont think he was that good but has done well since he went back to Italy. Some players find it easier in different leagues which is not to say that Kroldrup is a bad player just he is more suited to Italy.

Hmm....Im a bit sceptical - whats the source of this story?

If it is true its enough to make me want to puke

I think someone just put 2 and 2 together and came up with this story. Total bull if you ask me. Kroldrup's name was familiar to me before he even signed for Everton. I'm sure a football manager going to sign him would have recognised his name too. He's a regular starter for Denmark.

    That story is bull.

Koldrup actually played for Denmark aswell. So I think someone went over the top with the above statement.

Certainly sounds that way. In his last three seasons for Udinese he played 25, 30, and 25 games (league appearances). If he's good enough to play pretty regularly in Serie A he should be good enough to play in the PL.

This story is from the same source that claimed Liverpool can win the league in the next five years.

Materazzi played very well when he was with Everton, his main problem was that he was always getting sent off due to some over the top tackles.

He was sold only for financial reason.

A friend of mine is an Everton fan and said he was crap so I'm only going on what he said. I know nothing about Materazzai in his Everton days so I took what he said at face value.

Player of the month twice in the season we had him.

    http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/98-99/potm.htm
The young Italian has again caught the eye, even though there was plenty of March Madness in the Everton defence, which crumbled badly on a couple of key occasions. Still, Marco is something special – head and shoulders above Rio Ferdinand – but don't go telling anyone or he really will be leaving come the summer.
The young Italian has been a model of skill and composure, shoring up the defence under guidance from Dave Watson, and rounding this off with a vital goal against Huddersfield in the Worthington League Cup.

God only knows who your mate thought he was watching!

Probably something to do with his sending offs!

I've seen him alot with Inter. One week he can be great. Next week he couldnt kick snow off a rope. Could to be do with that as well

i remember materazzi played well....he just had a bad attitude and was constantly sulking and kept getting sent off, so he was sold for something like 2.5 - 3 million - and about a season later was bought by inter for around 7 million....i remember everton had afew transfers out of the club around that time for ridiculously low prices, really frustrating! i think it had something to do with paying off the loans they had taken out to buy the players in the first place, but still....

Marco didn't like the weather apparently.
    By European Football - November 7 2005

Dutch midfielder Andy Van der Meyde as stated that he is pleased to have ignored the advice of former Evertonian Marco Materazzi and joined Everton:

"Marco said he didn't like it in England because he didn't like the weather.

"I am from Holland so I am used to this, the rain and the pitches.

"He told me, 'Don't go there, you don't have to go there.'

"But I know I've made a good decision. It's perfect for me, it feels like home already.”

I wonder was Andy the player they were meant to buy? For all we know they could've been looking at Killy!

I saw him play against Inter last night and he seem half decent. Certainly not out of place.
