I've just realised I own 8 of the games on that gamestop list, 6 of which I'm more than happy to trade in which means 2 new releases between now and 20th May for 6 quid...:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭padair

I got a flier today and it says
"Trade in any three games from this list of over 600 titles and get selected new releases for less" - Then on the right it says New releases from only €3

The selected and from only means that when a big game comes along they will either hike up the price or just not choose it for the deal.

    Mafia 2 €12.50 (75% Off) on Steam.

A shameless mid-week promotion which entices you to buy part of the Special Offer pack in order to be in with a chance to win the rest after joining the 2K Games group.

A totally unfair promotion to which I have completely fallen for.

More 2K Games promotion each day this week. Civ 5 will no doubt be seducing me at some stage.

    Damn you Steam!

you can pick up Mafia 2 on thehut.com for £8.85. Works out a couple of euro cheaper (I'm fairly sure that they have now implemented free delivery there too). And it uses Steamworks so it adds to your Steam account.
    http://www.thehut.com/games/platforms/pc/mafia-ii-2/10219553.html

Also. Civ 5 is on Amazon.co.uk for £13.99 (€16-€17) (free deliveries for orders over £25 too)
Might be worth keeping in mind if Civ 5 does go on special.

Will keep that in mind :).

£8.85 = €10.43, for €12.50 I got the digital deluxe edition which is now 3/4 of the way through download.

You can get the standard edition of Mafia 2 for €10.

The last hard copy of a game I bought was Call of Duty: World at War :pac:. Have bought digital ever since.

Didnt spot that it was the deluxe edition on special on Steam. Suppose Steam has the better price so.

As far as my last hard copy. I keep buying hard copies. I go where the best price is. And I NEVER go to Steam for new games. They cost €50 there. Doesn't really make sense to go via Steam at launch when you can get games for over €20 cheaper on disc. Previously pre-ordered Crysis 2:limited edition for £22 on asda and Duke Nukem can be pre-ordered for a lower than €30. No doubt Steam will have it for €50 at launch.

Also. Portal 2 is cheaper than Steam too, pretty much everywhere. €28 on amazon and a similar price on gamestop.ie(€2 delivery included)
    http://www.gamestop.ie/39618_PC_Portal_2.aspx

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portal-2-PC-Mac-DVD/dp/B004IEA4PU (should be free delivery)

So you reckon that for any decent new releases it won't be 3 euros at all? Sneaky f***ers...

@kearneybobs: where can you pre-order duke nukem for less than 30 euros, it's £55 on the Asda website??

I'm referring to PC prices above. Just incase there was confusion.

Duke Nukem can be preoerderd on for €33 (€2 delivery is included) on Gamestop.ie
    http://gamestop.ie/39594_PC_Duke_Nukem_Forever.aspx

Amazon have it for a total of £26.99 (€31)
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004JHY434/

And Zavvi have it for £24.85 (fairly certain it's free delivery there)

Have heard either Trine, Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds: Survivor are either part of the bundle or given free with it. Also access to 2 future projects called "Jack Claw" and "Splot".

Buy it on ps3, use code to get it on PC. Trade in Ps3 Copy.... :D:D:D:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,554 ✭✭✭savemejebus

it doesn't work like that. you link your steam and ps3 accounts and get the pc/mac version added to your steam account via the link.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,923 ✭✭✭kearneybobs

Yeah. They haven't confirmed that there would be a code in the box for this. It's done by you linking your PSN account with your Steam account. they haven't given any other details as to how it'll be done though. Just that it'll be done by linking accounts. Which really doesn't explain how they plan to stop trade ins of the PS3 version once your accounts have been linked. Maybe it will be a code in the box then, while linking your accounts at the same time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Korvanica

it would have to be combination of the two then maybe?

As if its just linking accounts, whats to stop someone from renting the Ps3 Version and linking the accounts once Portal 2 has been registered as played on the Ps3 account.

That would make more sense than simply just either one.

Mortal combat is 37 euro to pre order on play.com

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,455 ✭✭✭Nollog

I bought monkeyballs from coolshop for 21 euro~ and traded it in at xtravision for 28 euro credit(got shadow wars pre-owned but it was brand new with club nintendo points and all for 25 and some salsa with the 3 euro left over).
    https://www.coolshop.co.uk/catalog/product/65899-super-monkey-ball--for-3ds

Might be worth it for some people.
Also it gets you 35 credit at gamestop if that's more your bag.

    These are 3DS games btw.
