I was up my mates house and i was trying to open up a couple of ports using www.portforward.com but I didn't know what make his router was as all it says is NTL and no makers name on it.

Can someone shed some light on this please

Does he have an NTL router or an NTL modem? The NTL modem is a small blue thing that looks like a router, and doesn't do any port filtering/NAT.

The NTL cable modem is not a router. It doesn't need ports opened.

If the port is not open or listening it is because there is no service running using it. NTL modem doesn't have any NAT.

Slight hijack of the thread, but I have recently started using Utorrent instead of Bitcomet and today all my torrents are unconnectable.

Could this be to do with the tracker if the tracker's website is down?

I have the NTL modem as well.
