Not strictly true - its like everything, you pays your money and you takes your choice. If you want to change the colour and there isn't any additional work, you will find that it could be done for less than €1,000 but it might look cack. It really depends on the finish you want - the cost of spraying is in the panel preparation and the materials used. The paint and hardners/lacquer/solvents for a full car will cost €300-400 for DeBeers/Galsurit but the real cost is the 20+hours involved in pre and post prep. Try to find a small out-of-town garage with a spray booth - they are likely to be less busy than the city places, but you could still be looking at no change from the cost of a small motorbike ;)

In most cases it would be more cost effective to find the car in the coulour you want and sell yours to buy it (providing you don't want it in pornstar pink)

On the other end of the scale, my good mate Simon Murray will spray your car but will charge you £10,000stg for the pleasure...

Hmm, Simon will paint any picture onto anything so long as you have a wad of greenbacks. He drives the most outrageous Mitsubishi Pajero pickup to promote his business - I was at some classes he held to teach airbrushing techniques and the quality is unbelievable but sometimes quite naff...
