Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Charlton v Liverpool match thread...

No Gerrard tonight and maybe Saturday so a reshuffled midfield which should mean Luis Garcia or Cisse wide, though I guess narrower formation could mean Finnan plays as a wing-back but I doubt it.

Liverpool really do have to win this one, so do Charlton.

    My best guess line-up/formation

    Du Du Dudek
    Finnan---Cara--Hyypia---Risse
    Garcia-Alonso-Hamann-Kewell
    Cisse---Crouch

Subs - Carson, Morientes, Sissoko, Warnock, Fowler

Which I dont want to see but....

    finnan---carra---hyypia--risse
    garcia---alonso---hamann---kewell
    crouch---moro

apparently garcia didn't travel but i cant confirm yet. Would like to see agger in for hyppia. kromkamp at left full with finnan on the wing?

kromkamp righ full you mean? If garcia didnt travel he will probaly go with cisse.

    are radio5 doing it live?

your lineups are more likely..although it could be something like this as I think Rafa has completely lost faith in moro & cisse.

    Dudek
    finnan cara hypia warnock
    kromp alonso hamann risse
    Kewell
    Crouch (Fowler?)

Liverpool MUST win. Liverpools record for going so many games without a goal conceeded is such a distant memory. 10 goals conceeded in the last 7 games played and only 11 goals scored ( 5 of these in the luton game ).

Charlton will put it up to Liverpool , Can't see Liverpool score without Gerrard. Is it on the box?

    No.

Chelsea vs everton is on bbc at 8pm though.

If Garcia is out thats a pity, he can turn a match in moment. Kronkamp at RB with Finnan wide would be good as Finnan can control and acurately cross the ball which is more than Cisse can do most of the time.

    Mike.

If I had my way Cisse wouldnt be even on the bench. Waste of space., hes been given enough chances.

Really surprised by Sissoko starting. Figured without gerrard we'd have the much more experienced hamman, but guess not! Has Garciapicked up an injury or something to keep him out altogether? As much as he loses the ball id take him over cisse on the wing who drifts in and out of the game so much he's like half a player! Praying we can get the win tonight. At least we won't be up against Danny "Boy" Murphy anyway. Always dread comin up against ex reds playing well cause they always seem to have a point to prove - and usually end up proving it! Pool 2-1. Hope Dudek grasps his final opertunity with both hands!

<edit> Just realised Traore is starting, let me make that 4-2 to charlton.

Liverpool are all over them...but whos going to score ? Crouch should have had one early on but fell flat on his face. Kewell looking dangerous.

Penalty and dudek with a yellow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Typical, have all the play and then a penalty against Dudek. We'll lose 1-0.

Barely any contact...Carragher also given a yellow card for contesting, Liverpool must have had 95% possession in that half.

Why do people show such faith in him ? He hasnt performed in a long time. I still think he needs to be brought on though, Crouch is playing terrible

its not faith in fowler we have (well it is a bit) its a lack of faith in the rest of the strikers

Haha, you Liverpool fans make me laugh, what do you think Fowler is?

Not even half the player he was 5 years ago is your answer.

And Tusky, Liverpool may be getting a lot of possession but they're doing very little with it, and certainly don't look like scoring.

Never said they did looked like scoring.. Sell Cisse, Morientes & Crouch at end of season I say.

probably injured because of a back injury - too much load bearing :p

i was going to post earliar when i saw the line up to say "any half competant manager should be sacked if his team cant beat that liverpool team"

man, what a piss poor line up if ever i saw one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

the starting 11 is brilliant but the is about as much depth to the squad as a childs paddling pool

errr...apart from Traore & Cisse ( who is actually playing well ) I dont see whats wrong with it. Apart from the two hopeless strikers but theres not exactly much choice in that are of the pitch.

dude thats 4 players, theres only 11 on the team.

sissoko in the middle with alonso, sissoko hasnt got a creative bone in his body and alonso would get a nose bleed if he went too close to the oppositions box. u just dont put those 2 together in the middle and expect ANY penetration through the centre

Sissoko and Alonso have started in the middle for almost every game this season...also, is that not kind of the idea ? one is a tough tackler and the other is a creative passer of the ball ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,399 ✭✭✭✭Thanx 4 The Fish

(Getting a nosebleed when he goes too far up the pitch) Alonso has scored a couple from the edge of the box this season alone, do you actually watch the football or just read about it here and try to bluff it ?
