whats the best size timber to build a partition wall.

the partition will be fitted with a door incl a length of door frame.

question - so what size timber with plasterboard on either side will equal the width of the door frame timber.
no skimming on pb at all

    thx

    What width are your frames?
Mine were 100mm exactlyhowever I would say that the most common would be 4" or 5" wide.
If you go wider or narrower you can always get small 90º beading to finish the edge.
Are you single or double slabbing?
    Normal plasterboard is 12.5mm thick.

I have not put up any frames yet.

Not sure what size the door frame width (not door sixe) will be -- attached to the partition frame.
If I use 100mm timber and 2* 12.5 platerboards (25mm in total) -1 either side.
will the door frame timber be 125mm wide.
I am using the pre-routed door frame.
    thx

Yes If you use 4x2" the stud +slab should equal 125mm or 5"
I have used 3x2" and double slabbed to give me the same dimensions.I also have the pre-hung doors what a timesaver they are!
