I think you may have the wrong word there, you're basically saying I know less than I let on?
No, I'm saying you know more than you let on. You're ignoring some of what I'm saying in order to suit your argument.
My point is that its not the specifics of what you learn in geometry or whatever, its that it shapes the way you make decisions throughout your everyday life in ways that you don't notice.
That's a fair point and again it's why I think the cut-off point should be after the Junior Cert. That's eight years of primary level, three years of post-primary. I don't see the point in adding to the stress of a person's Leaving Certificate.

Anyway you are a dope - I'm branding you one.

The two of you seem intent on wrecking this thread. Don't post on it again or you will be banned.

    EDIT: T-K-O banned

Thats not to say though that the only place where people speak irish is in the gaeltacht. In most towns in Ireland there is atleast one irish medium school.

Irish is doing well, but could be doing alot better. The over dependence on learning about poetry and mythology (pros / old short stories) is very difficult in leaving and junior cert, this should nearly be a subject in itself. It turns the irish exam into a memory test.

That was really interesting! Very different from the Welsh style of sining. More down to earth and raw , I think!

Here is a Welsh song called 'Hiraeth'. It kind of means ' intense longing', but there is no direct English translation from Welsh. He's sining about how much he misses Wales, and what it used to be. The translated lyrics are in the 'info' section.

Here's Suo Gan, a Welsh lullaby.
