    20 (-) Aston Villa £55.9m
Manchester United remain the world's richest club in terms of income - but Chelsea are closing the gap, according to a new report.

In 2003/04 Man Utd's income was £172m, and Chelsea, who moved from 10th to fourth spot in the list, made £144m.

But the Deloitte report concluded: "Chelsea will not think that future overall leadership is beyond them."

The report also shows the world top 20 football clubs are set to break the £2bn ($3.8bn) income mark in 2005.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Celtic, Newcastle, Rangers, Manchester City and Aston Villa were the other British clubs in the top 20.

i thought chelsea made record losses like 150m or something last year??

    how is that list calculated?

    Its incomes not profits.

Chelsea's wages would be incomparable to many other clubs.

Profit wise, Man Utd are leagues ahead of CHelsea, but income wise, its fairly similar, especially considering Uniteds poor form in Europe, and also their lack of outgoing transfer sales.

Also, this list was released about 4 months ago, just a rehashed news story

Considering Chelsea made £150m loss, everyone is leagues ahead of Chelsea profit wise. All a club has to do is turn £1 profit to be miles ahead of chelsea.:D

Is the rise in income for Liverpool down to their success in the CL last season? Thats some rise in income on the previous year.

Yes it is, a good CL run, particularly if you win it is worth anywhere from 30 - 40mill...

Nice to see Everton in the top 20. They have really got their finger out in their marketing dept last year and it is paying off....
