Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been having trouble with the volume level on my Nano, it just won't go loud enough (clearly I have it at max volume), compared to my old cd walkman it's nearly wisper quiet (ok, not that quiet but it's still really annoying) Anyone know if this can be changed?

Do you have the soundcheck feature switched on? If yes, switch it off.

Also, investing in a good set of headphones, such as the Sony Fontopia in-ear models, would negate the need to turn it up as loud and might help you avoid tinnitus. They cut out a lot of external noise so you can go easy on your hearing :)

AFAIK the volume on all portable media players is limited (some stupid EU regulation or something) so blame the EU

Yeah, but on my ipod I rarely have to put it over half way on the volume. They have ample output.

Ya the US ones are louder than the EU ones. There's a programme around that removes this volume restriction. I forget what its called

Aren't the iPod Nano's firmware upgradeable?

Have you tried upgrading it with American firmware?

Are you recording your mp3's at a sufficiently high level?

go into itunes, select all tunes in your library (alt+a as far as I remember), right click, go to 'get info' and in the option these is a setting for 'song volume' and move it from 100% to 120% or 140% and this should help.

Don't max up the volume on a per song basis, instead use goPod to unlock the restriction on EU iPods :D

TBH I don't think deafness is the answer to the problem here.

imod is the best programme for removing the EU volume limiter and amust on ipods if you want to hear the music.
